I guess I am going to have to watch an NBC sitcom this season just to give it ratings since the homophobes are already trying to get it not to air. According to the Hollywood Reporter, a Utah NBC-affilate, KSL-TV is saying that it will not broadcast the new Fall sitcom The New Normal when it premieres in September.
"After viewing the pilot episode of The New Normal, we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule," Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL parent company Bonneville International, told Deseret News. "For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.”
Apparently to homophobes, LGBT people having families is inappropriate. However, most rational people know that hate is an inappropriate value to have especially during family times. You would also think that a Salt Lake City based station would know better since Salt Lake City itself is the
gayest city in the country according to the Advocate.
One of the series stars, Ellen Barkin has been blasting KSL-TV on twitter, and I will also urge that progressive Utahians flood KSL-TV with their disappoval of this decision to side with homophobes and religious fundamentalists

I loathe sitcoms, and I really don't like NBC's programming, but when homophobes try to force their decisions on what should air on TV and what doesn't, that is a bridge too far, and I will be proud to watch the New Normal until bullshit like this becomes ancient history.
