A lot of people are talking about it. The Todd Akin gaffe has kept attention focused on the platform's condemnation of abortion, without exceptions, particularly the rape exception. Dana Millbank says the GOP Platform is "full of rage". Others focus on what the Platform Committee could have included, but declined to adopt, such as a declaration of support for maintaining the income tax deduction on home mortgage interest.
So, everybody is talking about it, but where the heck can I find the damned GOP platform? It's nowhere to be found on the official convention website. There are no links to it at the Republican National Committee or official Romney/Ryan sites. I want to get my hands on this thing because I have an idea of how to use it.
I would redraft it to take the opposite position for every proposal in the document. I figure that should produce a pretty good proposal for progress. Anyway, I'd like to take a stab at it.
C-span has video of Platform Committee proceedings, but no one provides or links to any committee reports. Dozens of leading Republicans labored for days to produce the proposed GOP Platform. Yet, somehow they don't seem all that proud of it. If anyone knows where to get a copy of the platform document, please share.,
