The past few days, Mitt Romney has (in advance of the GOP convention) moved to the center on issues such as abortion (he just suggested that it is a settled issue) and RomneyCare, which he is again touting.
Last time he uttered such heresies, there was a major right-wing freakout, with RedState and other right-wing blogs and commentators going ballistic. Erick Erickson, channelling Dan McLaughlin, wrote a scathing article noting that Romney needed to be "housebroken"--to be told "not to go there".
Now?
Crickets.
Indeed, the loyal opposition (snark) at RedState is now accusing DEMOCRATS of "politicizing abortion". That in itself is not remarkable, but the failure to call out Romney for easing up on the anti-choice rhetoric--indeed, for pretending that the GOP platform position on this is just semantics--is an interesting shift in the campaign.
And a strong indication that many of the right-wing/Tea Party media sources aren't as "independent" as they like to claim; and that they're all on board with the Great Move To The Center.
Buckle up, folks.
