Last Thursday the Democrats from Mathews, Middlesex and Gloucester Counties met at the Gloucester Library to take another step forward in organizing to reelect Obama. I had already committed myself to doing data entry from the door to door and phone banks like my wife and I did in 2008. This time I will pace myself. I don't want to chance another bout of congestive heart failure especially since I have apparently recovered completely. I dropped out of the party in 2008 even though I almost worked myself to death for Obama. I see the two party system as the problem and both parties are part of that problem. If you have read my diaries on this you understand. Maybe you understand anyway. If you don't let's wait. We have a president to reelect. In spite of that, as I sat in that packed room I made a decision. It is not time to debate the negative role the Democratic Party plays in maintaining the system. It is time to join with the women, the unemployed, the Unions and others who need to win this fight before we go on. So I joined the Mathews Democratic committee and am very happy with my decision. My wife joined too and we are looking forward to four more years of Obama, even with the many differences we have with him. Read on below and I'll tell you my plans if I live to carry them out.
First of all, the book I coauthored with Jim Coffman should be out before the election if all goes well:Global Insanity:How Homo sapiens Lost Touch with Reality while Transforming the World It will make clear why the system is clearly a product of insanity. No one is exempt. It also makes clear what we think needs to happen if there is to be any hope for future generations.
If you understand where we are (if you don't please read the book) you know we can not afford any further steps backward. The Bush years made that clear. We lost too much ground. The danger is that if we win we will lapse back into our insane way of life and the system will have won. If you ask me if that is better than Romney winning my honest answer is that I do not know. In science tiny differences between big numbers are usually seen as statistical fluctuations if you get my drift.
Meanwhile, I am very pleased because I planted my fall garden. We will eat minimally poisoned food one more season if all goes well. The earth is safe. Humans and lots of other creatures are not. The Hurricane missed the "bad guys". Maybe that is fair for we are just as responsible. I am a democrat again but I won't be quiet.
