It's obvious what the Republican/Conservative/Koch Brothers' Funded/ALEC response this Denver Post article on Colorado's Secretary of State will be so I didn't bother to read the rest of the artilce.
Here's the headline and lede from the Post article on Scott Gessler's racially-motivated, ALEC-inspired and Koch Brothers-funded, full-time effort to deny Colorado's Citizens and Democrats their Right to Vote:
88% of challenged Colorado voters are U.S. citizens, check shows
At least 88 percent of the approximately 1,400 suspected noncitizens run through a federal database by the Colorado Secretary of State's office were determined to be U.S. citizens, and are therefore eligible to vote.
The office is looking further at the remaining roughly 168 people, but that list may also include people who are citizens, said Michael Hagihara of the state's elections division.
Gessler has been attempting move after move to implement the Koch Brother funded voter suppression efforts. His media lies have become legendary in Colorado. His frustration with the fact that Coloradans have rejected his lies, and his inability to trump up (oh boy, pun intended!) the phony voter fraud issue forced him to beg the Department of Homeland Security to step in and validate his bullshit list of "questionable" voters:
COLORADO SECRETARY of State Scott Gessler has been awaiting final permission from the Department of Homeland Security to check the citizenship of about 5,000 Colorado residents who are registered to vote but indicated on their driving records they are not U.S. citizens.
...
Homeland Security originally balked at providing the information Mr. Gessler has been seeking, but it recanted after being threatened with a lawsuit by Colorado Attorney General John Suthers.
Mr. Gessler says that many on the list of 5,000 probably registered to vote without knowing they needed to be U.S. citizens. “Many of these cases are probably simple ignorance of the law because they identified themselves on their driving records as non-citizens. We also know about 2,000 did vote in recent elections.”
How would Republicans will react? They'll say the other 12% could ruin our democracy and compromise our elections. The truth is that these highly questionable actions by the Secretary of State (of All Colorado voter, by they way) are what have compromised our elections and will cause citizens to hesitate in exercising their Constitutionally Ordained Right to Vote.
And Scott Gessler had the nerve to mention "ignorance of the law" during his runup to failure.
Mission Accomplished: Scott Gessler, Colorado's Republican Secretary of State, you're a Divisive Partisan and a Corrupt Public Servant..........someone the Koch Brothers should be very proud of supporting.
