Republican National Convention: The race to the bottom
Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 GOP convention.

7:40 PM PT: Now falsely claiming Obama stole $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Not only does Ryan support saving the same $716 billion as does Obama, the only reason the Medicare savings were possible is that providers agreed to accept lower payments with the passage of Obamacare, which will expand their pool of customers.

7:42 PM PT: Ryan using his tired old line about Medicare: "We want this debate (over Medicare), we need this debate, and we will win this debate." Bullshit. They have been dodging this debate. If they wanted it, they'd have it.

7:44 PM PT: I'll have to rewatch later, but did Paul Ryan just blame the 2008 financial crisis on Obama? And he definitely blamed the debt limit credit rating downgrade on Obama, even though that was part of a deal that Ryan supported.

7:46 PM PT: Hahahaha! Paul Ryan slamming Obama for ignoring the Bowles-Simpson commission ... on which Ryan sat ... and against which Ryan voted. What a fucking fraud.

7:47 PM PT: Ryan's lies are not going unnoticed:

The Bowles-Simpson and debt downgrade are brazen attacks by Ryan considering role House GOPers played in both issues

Well, the fact-checkers all hung themselves about ten minutes ago, so I hope he doesn't go on much longer.

This truly is a post-truth campaign. They just don't let reality get in the way of a good attack.

7:50 PM PT: It gets a bit wonky, but Paul Ryan is completely full of shit.

7:51 PM PT:
Ryan, who voted for two wars that weren't paid for, two budget-busting tax cuts and a unpaid for Medicare Rx program, moralizing about debt?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
