This is going to be a short diary because if I think about this much longer I'm gonna throw something through the television.

I was retching tonight while watching night two of the mendacity-fest called the GOP convention -  More properly, should be called a CON-vention, since the level of conning going on was beyond the pale.

I just watched Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's "interview" with MSNBC, and with every lie he told about the Janesville GM plant closing (which happened in 2008 under Bush 43) being Obama's fault, you could hear the panelists head exploding.

This came after listening to Condi Rice ignoring the Bush debacle, and Paul Ryan lying his ass off during his speech on so many topics I lost count.

Gack!

It's now pretty clear that the GOP has sailed right off the edge of their flat world, and sincerely believe they can BULLSHIT America with a straight face, and we're TOO STUPID to know, or TOO TIMID to call them on it.

I think it's time that ALL Americans who know the truth standup and DEMAND form the media that they call out the GOPs liars EVERY time they lie, and for every lie they tell.

DEMEAN them in public

FORCE them to admit

CONTINUE to push the issue until they admit ON-AIR that they just lied.

not "mis-spoke" - LIED

we HAVE to Get Out The Vote this fall and vote these prevaricators back into the stone age or risk them getting elected and enacting policies that will take the nation there - and, sadly, the world...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I feel the same nasty churning feeling in my stomach after I saw purple bandaids on GOP-ers on the convention floor in 2004.  Our side never fought back and we were gifted with another four years of Bush.   I am sure the Dems are busy planning for their convention next week, and the timing is helpful to our side.  But there is no reason for the Dems or the Obama campaign to call them out of the litany of dishonest bullshit that came out of Lying  Ryan tonight.

I vote Democratic because I am a woman with self-respect , who rejects bigotry of all kinds, subscribes to science, believes in universal health care, embraces unions, and endorses smart internationalist foreign policy.

He just articulated my deepest fear... He said that Paul Ryan was trafficking in simple lies and no amount of media fact checking would have an effect on swing voters.  Fineman agrees... the truth aside, the lying was effective.  No one whose vote is up from grabs is going to even realize they're lying.

If anyone has a counter argument.. please share  a I'd love to hear it.

        the definitive issue.

Paul Ryan stepped on a stage and deliberately, repeatedly lied to America.  How do you feel about that.

It's about the act of lying, beyond the specific lies.  Nobody likes a fucking liar, and that's the way Obama has to play this one.

And I hope they don't side step it.   This is swiftboating times ten... and we see how well that ended last time.  The Obama team has to paint them to be the mendacious filthy liars that they are.

If the Democrats don't stand up immediately and say that Ryan and Romney are bold-faced liars, too many people will believe every word the Repugnicans say.  It's so scary that we live in a world where facts and truth no longer matter.  After decades and decades of lies from Rove, Norquist, Limbaugh, the Koch Brothers--and now Ryan and his "sidekick" Romney--the Republicans will simply get away with it--and too many people will just continue to lap up all the lies.  The Faux-Newsification of American is what many folks WANT! We are entering a time where people have ceased to understand--nor do they even care anymore-- that they are voting against their own self-interests.  I think many folks actually want a Corptocracy that has no conscience.  And Ryan and his sidekick Romney are the perfect candidates for these folks.

          •  I would LOVE to be wrong too... (0+ / 0-)

but sadly it is not looking that way.  This election should not even be close--let alone a tie nationwide--anywhere!  The fact alone that the phony Cosmo Pin-up Scott Brown is trouncing Elizabeth Warren in the polls in Massachusetts is a tragic testimony to what has become of our country--and the lies people are willing to believe.  I fear they WANT to believe the lies.

      •  Quibble: easy rebut: Medicare benefits went up. (0+ / 0-)

The particular subject for the O'D/F-man was the "$718 B cut" Medicare lie.  They basically said 'it takes to long to explain that its a lie' and that is why Ryan's lie wins.

Now, that may be true - absent establishing a overtall narrative of 'They lie' (requiring an entire ad campaign to that end by itself*), but this particular lie is easy to rebut, to wit:

"How did BO increase Medicare benefits and add 10 years to its solvency, if he cut it?  A: He didn't cut.  They are lying.  Again."

(*As I have said elsewhere: a series of ads all reinforcing the pt, each taking 1 big lie and relying on news headlines/articles to show it a lie and doing it as a question, thus:

        "Why is Romney lying?

They say PBO cut Medicare.  But every honest person who's looked at it says PBO increased benefits and added 10 years to the life of Medicare. [show headlines/articles]

        So why is Romney lying?

Well, if you big idea was to turn Medicare into a shrinking voucher to give more undersrved tax cuts to the wealthy, wouldn't you lie too?"

Same re: welfare-work lie, "Well, if your big idea was raising middle class taxes by $2000 to give more undersrved tax cuts to the wealthy, wouldn't you lie too?"

Same re: [insert]: "Well, if your big idea was to do the same thing Bush destroyed the economy with, wouldn't you lie too?"

Get Out the Vote in November. If this doesn't motivate us to work harder and harder for this election, I don't know what will.
We MUST Stop the Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, Fox News and Rush. These are the real brains behind this.
