You know, KOS is a progressive web site. And indeed, it's progressive politically. But on the technology front, I simply can't understand why keeping technologically visible isn't the first order of business for the techies or agenda directors at KOS:
From the support team, when the Kossack Mobile Reader failed:
A spiffy new mobile version is in the works and a very basic release of it should come in a couple of weeks. Alas, there are no plans at the moment for an iPhone app from the tech team. We're hoping the generic mobile edition will suit the majority of the need (and we all have iPhones, so we'll test it there first).
There has been some negative feedback for this approach. Here is some reaction on the help thread:
It would seem to me one of those items topping your list would be an app, think about it, KOS is the #2 blog site, número 2, truthfully I don't think whoever is in the number one spot comes close to your action. Everybody and there mother is either on or going to be using some sort of mobile device don't let your readers go to the other guy because he's easier to read on their mobile device, get the app, and let's get back to kicking republi-can't butt.

From Leftleaner:
Same problem as everyone else. I have an app for the Daily Beast, the Daily Show, for Huff Post, CNN, NBC, for my little local newspaper that is mostly ads and comes out once a week. DK needs to have an app as well. It's basic.
And an earlier
diary on it.
I used to click on the Kossack Reader app first thing in the morning (iPhone by my bedside) for the first real news of the day and now it's dysfunctional. BTW, I did not know that the app was not an "official" KOS organ. I only learned that on this thread (in the "help" area of KOS - New Problems with Kossack Reader App), when there were postings of "developer not responding". I still don't understand why the old app can't be fixed to work as it did. It had no bells and whistles, couldn't post comments, but it served the purpose of having a quick look at the top stories on Kos and on the Recommend list.
I'm joining the chorus (don't know how large it is at this point) that is disappointed that there is no official KOS app. Progressive political web sites should stay technologically progressive also in this day and age. How else are we going to get the word out?
