God help me. The tip jar which will attach itself to this diary like some obnoxious, parasite will be my twenty thousandth comment here. See me standing hunched and wired, triumphant among nerds, exemplar of geeks.

You all know what that means, right? A celebration! And pics.

So, how did I get this far? Obstinacy and perseverance, friends, obstinacy and perseverance. No flame war or episode of trolling has managed to drive me away:

Still, if one doesn't enter the more controversial diaries, Kossacks can actually be very pleasant company. So pleasant, in fact, that I doubt my senses. Perhaps there is some brainwashing going on?

Still, I find myself not caring. After all, it's not like you're indoctrinating me as part of some nefarious plot, right?

I'm not quite sure how I found the time to write 20.000 comments here, though, given my studies and other pursuits. On second thought, perhaps I do. I think my footwear saved me a lot of time which would otherwise have been unproductively wasted:

Oh, my God, I need a life.

To be serious for a moment, it's been a privilege being here. For all its flaws, Daily Kos is a loose confederation of people roughly on the same side of the political spectrum and can be a source of sanity when the world goes barking mad. Oh, and a source of amusing pics and wisecracks, of course.

In short, thank you for an interesting couple of years, Kossacks. I hope to remain one of you for a while longer... and I will be, if Markos doesn't ban me for tag abuse.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
