Thanks to all who have contacted me and shared the word about a Kossack meetup at the 2012 Democratic National Convention here in Charlotte, NC.  Just wanted to confirm it is in the works!

If anyone else is interested and hasn't contacted me personally, there is still time.  Send me a kosmail and preferred contact info, and I'll keep you in the loop.

To all those traveling here in the next few days: I hope your trip to the Queen City is safe and pleasant!  Here's a spray of lovely orange flame azalea to welcome you to North Carolina.

My challenge right now is to find a good location.  It has to be accessible on foot and open for business (many places are closed or hosting private events.)   Tomorrow I'm planning to take a walk around uptown and scope out some possibilities in and near the convention center.  The volunteer office may also have some suggestions.

I'm leaning toward Tuesday evening, but a breakfast or lunch meetup is also a possibility if that works for more people.

It is so exciting to see this actually happening after so many months of anticipation!  Getting ready to crash, but will check back later Sat. morning.  I'll leave you with a couple of shots of then-Senator Obama at a Charlotte rally in March, 2008.  It's hard to imagine getting that close now!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
