Tomorrow is Labor Day, a day that Wikipedia tells me celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers in the United States.
"Welcome to Brothers and Sisters, the weekly meetup for prayer* and community at Daily Kos. We put an asterisk on pray* to acknowledge that not everyone uses conventional religious language, but may want to share joys and concerns, or simply take solace in a meditative atmosphere. Anyone who comes in the spirit of mutual respect, warmth and healing is welcome."
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops makes a statement each year (from their Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development) for Labor Day. An excerpt:
...everyone and every institution in society--businesses, government, unions and private institutions--should collaborate to support workers and create an economy that serves the person rather than the other way around." ~emphasis mine
YES! YES! YES!
Remember all those looking for work, those working for near nothing wages, those working in dangerous locations, those who have given up... keep them in your thoughts and prayers*-- not just this week, but every week.
May you all feel valued for the work you do... the care you take... the lives you touch.
Peace...
