“Do you think that President Obama doesn’t love this country? What does that mean?” O’Brien asked.
“I think that he is more about being a global,” she responded. “Being more one world, global, with you know other countries and it’s not about the shining city on the hill, the greatness that has always been America that our founding fathers were about. I do believe that. I absolutely believe it. I’m not going to run from that.
As she goes through her explanation she clearly shows she doesn't know she's talking about. Her one example for Obama "getting permission from others" she says is that "President Obama had to get permission from the French before doing something in Syria." and that we don't "Lead from Behind".
Yet she doesn't realize she sitting next to the journalist who reported that quote - Ryan Lizza.
I was there, and that quote doesn't mean what you think. President Obama was working with the UN to gather a coalition to take down Qaddafi (In Libya, not Syria). It has been very difficult to coordinate international action since George Bush was President.
Basically Lizza described the strategy that President Obama used to marshal other peoples and countries to end the regime of Qaddafi without putting a single American troop on the ground, as opposed to George Bush who got over 4,000 American soldiers killed in Iraq - for nothing.
She was wrong. Flat wrong.
But like most Tea Baggers, that didn't stop her or even slow her down one wit.
Kremer explained the Obama doesn’t love “America the way that we do” because he was waiting on other countries to tell him what to do.
“I guess my question is, when I hear somebody say that someone doesn’t love the country, and you know I’m very susceptible to the dog whistle thing,” O’Brien said. “That dog whistle that there is a message in that. When someone says that somebody doesn’t love the country and you’re talking about the President I just find that to be a very odd comment.”
You bet it's a Dog Whistle. "He doesn't Love America the way
we do." Yeah, that's why he didn't go rushing into a war in Libya, and hasn't sent U.S. troops into Syria yet. And he didn't have to
87th 82nd Airborne parachute into Tahrir Square.
From my perspective, the difference is this. President Obama doesn't like displaying American arrogance around the world, but he does Love the American Soldier who would sacrificed to such hubris. He may not Love the America of the Tea Party with it's "Shining City on the Hill" - because it Never Existed - but he does Love Americans who would build that city, live in that city, work in that city, go to school in that city and get medical care in that city.
This is why the Tea Bagger Congress has kept America in a ditch. They don't know what they saying, they don't know where they're going - they can't drive - we don't need to give them back the keys.
