As major corporations informed of his bigotry re-assert that they are avoiding Rush, the embattled talk show host waxed hyperbolic after the first day of the Democratic National Convention. He contended that "Feminazis" won't like Michelle Obama's speech because "loving your husband" isn't in their "playbook". He responded to Obama's "incomplete" self-grade by declaring that "apparently there are still too many people with jobs". He blathered that Obama is afraid of empty chairs.
Limbaugh hinted darkly that moving the final events of the DNC has nothing to do with the weather, but somehow portends the ultimate downfall of the Democratic Party. “This is a huge thing," Limbaugh proclaimed. "Do not doubt me.” Limbaugh was on a racist tear, claiming without evidence that Obama can’t fill “Black Panther Stadium.” (Little Green Footballs notes that Bank of America Stadium is often referred to as “Panther Stadium” for its home team.)
Limbaugh also bloviated that Obama isn't "down with the struggle" because he "doesn't have slave blood." Limbaugh revisited his "magic negro" and "not authentically black" onslaughts from years past. The Root provides context for Limbaugh's slavery obsession:
[T]hree things are clear from [Limbaugh's slavery] remarks: 1) Limbaugh missed the news that researchers have found that President Obama does, in fact, have "slave blood" (from his mother's side of the family); 2) nobody would really care if he didn't (didn't whatever remained of the "not black enough" argument kind of go by the wayside when he won?); and 3) the real "struggle" going on today seems to surround Limbaugh's difficulty processing the overwhelmingly positive reactions to a historic message.
The Root: Limbaugh: Obama 'Doesn't Have Slave Blood'
Meanwhile, Actor Alec Baldwin tweeted about the race issue, suggesting that Obama's skin color is one reason President Barack Obama isn’t crushing Mitt Romney in the polls.
“If Obama was white, he'd be up by 17 points,” the actor tweeted on Tuesday.
"Certainly things could [be] better w this economy," Baldwin added. "But this [administration] saved it from going off a cliff."
Alec Baldwin: If Obama were white ...
Limbaugh went on the attack:
Limbaugh called the claim “out of phase” and responded that being white would actually hurt the president’s re-election chances.
“If Obama was white, he would be down by 20,” Limbaugh asserted. “If Obama was white, this election would be over. If Obama was white, it wouldn’t be a contest.”
“Alec Baldwin is 180-degrees out of phase,” he continued. “It would be the second term of [Jimmy] Carter, and there wouldn’t be a shred’s difference. And there wouldn’t be all this talk about hope and change, and all these slogans.”
Rush Limbaugh: ‘If Obama Was White, This Election Would Be Over’
With all of that as prelude, one ultra-conservative media source is looking at a trend against conservative talkers and
worries that Limbaugh may begin to lose radio programs, even when they have conservative audiences:
[excerpt] North Carolina is a must-win for President Obama, and he’s getting a lot of help from supporters – in Boston.
In the run-up to the Democratic National Convention, Boston-based Greater Media Inc. neutralized the conservative line-up of talk radio show hosts it inherited when it bought top-rated Charlotte station WBT-AM (1110) four years ago.
First it ousted Rush Limbaugh sub Jason Lewis from the prime afternoon drive-time slot. Then it jettisoned popular local conservative Vince Coakley, replacing him with a liberal duo who routinely lampoon GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and even Rush Limbaugh, who precedes them in the noon-to-3 p.m. slot.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled Limbaugh,” Coakley told WND, perhaps even before the election. He called the moves baffling in light of WBT’s overwhelmingly conservative audience.
Most recently, management unceremoniously told popular morning personality Keith Larson, a limited-government libertarian, that his contract would not be renewed.
Local bloggers and longtime listeners smell a conspiracy.
“Great timing, drawing back from (conservative) politics and all, right when the DNC is slated to hit town,” said Mark Pellin of PunditHouse.com, a conservative blog for Charlotte news and politics.
He says it looks like “a calculated move on the station’s part to curry favor with the left.”
Added Charlotte resident Marty Allen, who’s been listening to WBT since 1988: “They (are) trying to be ‘politically correct’ for the DNC.”
WND EXCLUSIVE: Ax Falls On Conservative Hosts
Sounds like crying wolf, as the notorious, hyper-fundamentalist
World Net Daily is wont to do. Of course one could hope...
In truth, the greatest threat to Rush Limbaugh's continued radio dominance is the activism of consumers, volunteers, and activists who seek to hold Rush accountable for his hate speech by joining Flush Rush on Facebook, and other groups that use the StopRush Database to inform advertisers about where their ads are appearing. |
