A good friend of mine is the writer Anne Lamott.  A few days ago she put up a fundraising page for Obama and asked her 80,000 Facebook followers to give a little.

In four days she has raised $35,000.

If you like Annie's work and you can kick in three bucks - please do!

Here is Annie's message:

Hi everyone--and I mean everyone, including Personhood peeps and the assault-rifle bon vivants; please join me and [Kevvboy] in our weekly fundraiser for the Obama campaign, on the final night of the Democratic convention. We're just
hoping Barack Obama can give a decent speech for ONCE in his life...

We raised $32,000 during the RNC, and hope to add $10,000 more tonight. I could have chased down an airplane fueled by joy and pride after the first two nights of the DNC, and pride in Democratic values: we take care of our own, of ALL people of this country.

If you need even more inspiration after the astonishing speeches of the last two nights, I recommend you twitter RNC head @reince, @anncoulter, erickerickson's or @arifleisher. Then come back and donate what you can. mark and I will start off with $221.12. Thanks and love

UPDATE:  Thank you all so much, those who gave - we have raised $6000 for Obama's re-election just tonight.

I do think we can win this thing.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
