On the Stage of the Democratic Convention, besides having a higher level of rhetoric, truth and wit - they also had a far far higher level of music.
Including Multi-Grammy Winning Artist such as the Foo Fighers.
I was especially jazzed about this because as a long time Foo Fighters Fan, they showed where their hearts are. Guitarists Chris Shifflet has been politically active for some time and played many shows for Occupy. In fact I'm such a fan - you can see me with my dreads rocking out during the Foo's entire episode of "Storytellers" which was filmed here in LA - I'm standing right behind the drum kit and am over Dave's shoulder in most of the shots.
I got nothing against the Oak Ridge Boys. I got nothing for them either. They did a passable version of Amazing Grace at the RNC.
Ok, I do have one thing about them... These guys are a "Gospel/Country" Group? So they are basically using music created by Black People and diluting it with the music who Enslaved Black People?
Yeah, ok.
And the fact that they wanted to "Bring People together" by performing at the RNC? Um, ok. Sure. That's working for ya.
On, and on Reflection - and actually listening to their version of "Amazing Grace". That kind sucked. Staid and dull and uninspired as all git out.
Just like the GOP.
Here, cleanse your audio palate with a song the Foo wrote specifically about George W. Bush and which coincidently - fits W. Mitt Romney perfectly.
