How about this? This one kills me, then I’ll be done with my rant.
So at the Democratic Convention Wednesday night their first prime time speaker was Sandra Fluke — Fluke, Fluke, whatever her name is.
Think about this: a 31-32 year old law student who’s been a student for life, who gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, “I want America to pay for my contraceptives.” You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job Sandra Fluke. (Light Applause)
This is what, I was offended. We’ve got Americans who are struggling. We’ve got parents in this country who are struggling to buy sneakers that their kids can wear to school that just started. We’ve got parents up and down my district who are barely keeping their house. And, and, and, we have to be confronted by a woman, the Democratic Party this is what they stand for. Their going to put a woman in front of us who is complaining that the country — you, me and you — won’t pay the 9 dollars per month to pay for her contraceptives.
How crazy is this? In a way it’s not her fault, because we teach people this stuff. You go back to fairness, we teach young people this. Don’t worry, government will take care of you. You’re having trouble with your student loans? Don’t worry, government will be there for you.
We are raising the Sandra Flukes of the world. We’re raising Americans who don’t know how to take care of themselves, who feel entitled. This a woman who feels entitled that we all should pay for her contraceptives. This is what we are teaching Americans? That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing.
Let me be quite blunt - MuthaFuck You Joe Walsh. You want to talk about "embarrassing"?
Oh. My. SHIT!
$9 a month for Contraception? What do you think we're talking about here - TROJAN Extra Ribbed?!! It's not like paying for Vonage. It's over TEN TIMES THAT.
It's not about the "Government Paying for her", it's about the Insurance Companies investing in keeping people from getting Sick. As a nation, we should have a vested interest in preventing our fellow citizens from dying form preventable illness. It's the same interest we have in STOP LIGHTS and ROAD SIGNS to keep people from driving into each other or off the road.
Oh, and by the way - Sandra Fluke has already got a job. Several of them.
Not like anything Walsh claimed was true about Sandra Fluke's DNC Speech.
Nor was it true about her testimony earlier this year which wasn't about "Sex" and wasn't even about her personally, but was instead about a fellow student who couldn't afford her birth control prescription and developed a giant ovarian cyst as a result.
But to answer Joe's primary issue about "Getting a Job" : It took two seconds to Wiki it. http://en.wikipedia.org/... and smash that canard flat as a pancake.
Fluke is a native of Saxton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pennsylvania's Tussey Mountain High School in 1999.[6] She graduated from Cornell University's Program in Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies in 2003. [7] She co-founded the New York Statewide Coalition for Fair Access to Family Court,[8][9][10] which successfully advocated for legislation granting access to civil orders of protection for unmarried victims of domestic violence, including LGBTQ victims and teens. She was also a member of the Manhattan Borough President's Taskforce on Domestic Violence and numerous other New York City and New York State coalitions that successfully advocated for policy improvements impacting victims of domestic violence. [11] [7] She worked in New York City for Sanctuary for Families, which aids victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.[7][12]
She is the 2011 recipient of the Women Lawyers of Los Angeles' Fran Kandel Public Interest Grant,[12] which supported her production of a video on how to take out a restraining order.[13] She also "represented numerous victims of domestic violence and human trafficking" and also worked to help "child victims of domestic human trafficking" in Kenya.[14] Sandra Fluke graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2012 and served as president of Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice.[15] While at Georgetown University Law Center, she worked on issues that involved domestic violence and human trafficking.[16]
Now, I understand in
Republican Talk helping children and helping families that are dealing with domestic violence and sexual trafficking isn't "WORK", whereas running a
Lemonaide Stand or a
Bank is real work. I get that if your working to alleviate someone elses sufferring rather than
exploiting that suffering for profit - it doesn't count as "working".
Still I have to ask : just what the Hell has Former Dead-Beat Dad Joe Walsh - who couldn't be bothered to help HIS OWN FAMILY - really done for anyone lately?
According to Wiki again Joe Walsh spent his entire career before joining Congress as an Advocate and investment banker funneling money into conservative causes like School Vouchers and helping create policy for Right-Wing/Libertarian Policy Shops like the Heartland Institute and Americans for Limited Goverment.
One could argue (unless you were infected with Republican Double-Think) he ain't done much "real work" at all.
Just saying.
