Welcome, friends. The purpose of this regular series is to promote enthusiasm and action among Daily Kos members. Romney will very likely out-fundraise President Obama. However, we believe that we can still win if (1) we can remain competitive financially, and (2) we volunteer our time and energy (GOTV, canvassing, phonebanking, LTE, ...).

Here are a few quick, informative, and fun headlines about Obama from today, with some quips from yours truly.
Obama maintains post-convention lead over Romney via Reuters:
Of the 1,419 likely voters polled online over the previous four days, 47 percent said they would vote for Obama and 43 percent for Romney if the November 6 U.S. election were held today.
The president's margin over Romney in the daily rolling poll was unchanged from Saturday's numbers, turning up the heat on Republican strategists who were hoping for a more muted post-convention "bounce" for Obama in the wake of Friday's release of weak employment numbers.
"It means (Democrats) are on good footing going into the rest of the election," Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said.
Because empty chairs don't bounce.
Obama tells Floridians future of Medicare is "at stake" this election via CBS News:
"They want to give money back to the insurance companies and put them in charge of Medicare," President Obama said during a campaign stop Sunday morning in Melbourne, Fla.
He pointed to a recent study by Harvard Economics Professor David Cutler (who had also advised the president during the creation of the health care law) that says turning Medicare into a voucher program - where seniors receive a stipend to purchase health insurance through private insurance companies, which is Ryan's proposal - would immediately increase the cost to seniors by $768 per year.
The study also says that insurance companies would see an increase in profits of between $16 and $26 billion a year.
Apparently, Ryan/Romney see corporations as people, my friends, but with clearly more important livelihoods than ours.
Does racial bias fuel Obama foes? How to tell? via Huffington Post:
It is an accusation almost impossible to prove, yet it remains inseparable from the African-American experience. The idea, which seemed to die in 2008 when Obama became the first black president, is now rearing its head from college campuses to cable TV as the Democratic incumbent faces Mitt Romney, the white Republican challenger.
Four years after an election that inspired hopes of a post-racial future, there are signs that political passions are dragging us backward.
"We're at a tipping point," said Susan Glisson, director of the Institute for Racial Reconciliation at the University of Mississippi. "But I don't know which way we're going to tip."
We're all a long ways away from either end of the spectrum of racial divide. Speaking of division...
Obama, Invoking Clinton, Says Romney Budget Doesn’t Add Up via NY Times:
The relationship between Mr. Obama and Mr. Clinton started off rocky — Mr. Obama, after all, ran against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination in 2008. But after Mr. Clinton’s ringing endorsement of Mr. Obama in a well-received Democratic convention speech on Wednesday, the president mentioned his Democratic predecessor at every stop on a bus tour of Florida over the weekend.
“President Clinton told us the single thing missing from my opponents’ proposal was arithmetic,” Mr. Obama told a rally here, to a burst of applause.
“When my opponents were asked about it today,” Mr. Obama said, “it was like 2 plus 1 equals 5.”
I <3 math! Electoral, political, arithmetical, or otherwise :)!
And The Daily Caller breathlessly Obama gaffes, claims ‘three proud words’ are ‘made in the USA’:
President Barack Obama pulled a Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday, gaffing the number of words a certain patriotic phrase contains.
At a campaign event in Kissimmee, Fla., Obama said if voters re-elect him over GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, he’ll push to see “three proud words” on products around the world: “Made in the USA.”
The phrase “made in the USA,” of course, contains more than three words.
ZOMG Obama can't count! ZOMG Obama's so unpatriotic! ZOMG we couldn't think of a better article to spend 275 words on! Or is that 276?!?
Here's a number we can all* agree on: FOUR more years! :)

*Harambee apparently means "working together" or "coming together as one", though I mostly associate it with a certain episode of The Boondocks cartoon series, wherein a White Black Studies professor gives a Kwanza lesson while encouraging the mostly white students to shout "Harambee! Harambee! Harambee!" as if it was "Betelgeuse" or something. Incidentally, Harambee is a tradition that comes from Kenya. That's right. So you know Obama will be shoving it down our throats for the next four years. Especially since he didn't mention God at all in the DNC or whatever.
Okay, so it wasn't a Black Studies professor, merely a schoolteacher, but it reminded me of a certain Chappelle Show episode wherein a White African Studies Professor competes alongside other contestants on a Jeopardy-style game show about knowledge of black people. Spoiler alert: The white guy does not win. An asian dude does.
