Welcome, friends. The purpose of this regular series is to promote enthusiasm and action among Daily Kos members. Romney will very likely out-fundraise President Obama. However, we believe that we can still win if (1) we remain competitive financially, and (2) we volunteer our time and energy to GOTV (through canvassing, phonebanking, LTE, ...).

Why the celebration? First, it does not mean we stop working. It means we work even harder!! Hope powers the re-election and winning engenders more hope!
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!!!
We're celebrating the hope of victory. After the dark days of 2010 and 2011, there's a new morning in America! (eat your heart out Ghost of Ronald Reagan)
Here's why we're happy and why it's reason to keep up the good work:
1. As the Rec listed diary tells you, Mark Halperin rips Romney and his "troubles" and a possible upcoming Romney "death stench". When Halperin is bailing, it's already too late for Mitt.
2. Obama out fundraised Romney (barely) in August and got 700,000 donations last week during the convention.
President Barack Obama dramatically increased his fundraising last month by finding 317,000 donors who hadn’t previously given money to his re-election campaign, a surge that happened around the time of the Republican National Convention.

Obama’s campaign said Monday it pulled in $114 million last month, slightly more than Romney’s $111.6 million.
With the extra money, the president can be expected to purchase more television ads, hire more campaign staffers and dump any excess cash into coffers to use if Romney and his super PAC allies, as expected, saturate the airwaves as Election Day approaches.
What Obama can do with cash from fundraising surge
3. Three polls within the last two days (Reuters, Gallup, and Rasmussen) show a 4-5% national lead for Obama, a real convention bounce.
4. The CNN poll today shows a 6% lead with likley voters!
President Obama Leads Six Points, 52% to 46% Says New CNN Poll
5. That ain't all. This morning, the Romney campaign came out with a memo telling Republicans to ignore the polls and why they were going to win anyway. Memorandum: State Of The Race
David Axelrod made a great point:
Anyone else find it odd that Mitt's pollster put out a state-of-the race memo this morning that was almost entirely devoid of polling data?

And this was before the CNN poll showing a 6% lead AMONG LIKELY VOTERS!
No convention bump for Mitt, a big one for Barack Obama!
6. More from that awesome CNN poll:
On Medicare, Obama is more trusted than Romney among likely voters by 54-43. That’s another jump; previous CNN polling showed it far closer. Bill Clinton’s speech, of course, focused heavily on debunking Romney’s core attack line that Obama is looting Medicare to pay for Obamacare, and on emphasizing that Obama and Dems strengthened the program.
Obama holds a clear lead, 51-41, on who “has an optimistic vision for the country’s future,” and a sizable edge, 45-39, on who “has a clear plan for solving the country’s problems” — both shifts from the last CNN poll, which showed Romney had an edge on both

The Big Dog really helped out!
That's a lot of good news for one night. Now celebrate in the comments and at home, and back to work tomorrow.
