Cairo appears to have been sponteneous, but they think Benghazi was planned:
WASHINGTON —The Obama administration suspects that the fiery attack in Libya that killed the American ambassador and three other diplomats may have been planned rather than a spontaneous mob getting out of control, American officials said Wednesday.

Officials in Washington studying the events of the past 24 hours have focused on the differences between the protests on the American embassy in Cairo and the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, the Libyan city where Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and the other Americans were killed.
The protesters in Cairo appeared to be a genuinely spontaneous unarmed mob angered by an anti-Islam video produced in the United States. By contrast, it appeared the attackers in Benghazi were armed with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades. Intelligence reports are inconclusive at this point, officials said, but indications suggest the possibility that an organized group had either been waiting for an opportunity to exploit like the protests over the video or perhaps even generated the protests as a cover for their attack.
NY Times: U.S. Suspects Libya Attack Was Planned.
Mitt Romney attacking Obama during a terrorist attack on Americans is one of the lowest things I have seen in a long time. When 9/11 happened, Democrats supported George Bush.
Romney appears alone (along with the RNC Chair) in this. VP Nominee Paul Ryan did not join the "apology" criticism in his remarks on Libya today. ( WRONG, see update) Nor did Boehner, McConnell, or McCain.
It's time for Republicans of conscience to speak out. It's not enough for John McCain or others to refrain from criticism. It's time to stand up for America. All decent people should criticize Mitt Romney for his disgusting and false political attacks.
MITT ROMNEY IS UNFIT FOR THE PRESIDENCY. He is a craven, disgusting human being.
Update I: From the comments, I learned that Ryan is peddling the lies. Good, he will go down with Mitt.
“It is very important that a president speak with a singular voice representing our principles and our values,” Ryan said in response to a question from the audience. “If you show weakness, if you show moral equivocation, then foreign policy adventerusim among our adversaries will increase. We do not want a world climate where our adversaires are so tempted to test us and our allies our worried about trusting us. And that is unfortunately the path we are on right now and I really worry about that.”
