Other posts have already gone into how the actors were all misled into creating this film.
But what they didn't go into are the facts that the creators of this film have not been able to be contacted and in fact ABC talked to a supposed "collaborator" who has never even met the man who made the film.
This idea was first formed by Nate Silver on his twitter feed.
But the lack of information on the film in the US seems to further indicate there is something very strange and stinky about the whole thing.
The video trailer for the film, appeared on youtube and barely garnered a thousand viees before a version translated in an Arabic Dialect that is common in Egypt and Libya appeared reposted, and from there it got picked up by Egyptian and Libyan news organizations.
This all seems very convenient. It takes someone very specialized to be able to translate video like that, and it was likely not going to be one of the random 1000 viewers.
We've always talked here on Daily Kos about how many of the right wing have become the modern American Taliban. Yet, it seems to me what would be ingenious for a terrorist organization to do is use our own bigots against us to hurt us abroad.
To fund a racist film here and then spread it abroad, leading to damage of our image in those countries and providing a distraction during a terrorist attack on our embassy's.
If that were to be the case, it would only be further proof of right wing bigots putting our international operatives in harms way for the sake of representing their own hateful viewpoints, and beyond that, being complicit in the attacks themselves.
