Progressives are sometimes incredibly old fashioned, conservative in a bad way. Most states now allow no excuse absentee voting by mail and, in many cases, they have allowed it for a decade or more. Heck, these days you can email in your ballot request in some states.
The vast majority of progressives have hung on to old fashioned voting by car well past its prime. Take environmentalist for instance. They have needlessly pumped millions of tons of CO2 into the Earth's atmosphere voting by car. And they actually went to extra effort to do it! It takes less time and effort to vote by mail than it does to vote by car. It does take a smidge more advanced planning, perhaps that's the rub. But I find that if I ask so-called progressives why they vote by car, they come up with such a bunch of hidebound bunk that they make Jesse Helms seem like the cutting edge.
In NC you can even mail a letter (or email a signed letter) and get a ballot sent to all your close relatives. I found this to be an effective tool for getting my daughter's swing-state ballot in the box when she was in college in a non-swing state. It provides a way for the older more reliable voter to help the notoriously less-reliable young voter become, in effect, more reliable.
Yet another effort progressives, if you don't want to fall another year behind those that passed these voting laws.

They are already mailing out the ballots for the Nov 6 general election in some states.

But, for goodness sake, vote!
