Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is going on in your life. I have been rewarding myself lately in the evenings with a bit of ice cream. My current favorite is Ben and Jerry’s “Cherry Garcia.”

One of the favorite desserts in our house when growing up was ice cream. The most frequent flavor was “Neapolitan” with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. My Dad was fond of Spumoni with its pistachios. Most of the rest of the family didn’t care for it but I did so he and I would eat it all up. Mom’s favorite ice cream was “French Vanilla” and my brother Mike liked “Mint Chocolate Chip.”

So what is your favorite flavor and brand of this delicious dessert?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

which is probably why I can't lose weight.

Have a good day, I'll be thinking about you while I'm sorting through my mom's things.  It's been tough the last year and she's getting worse.  Altzheimers is such an evil disease.  There are just pieces of what once was a wonderful mind.  It hurts.

Sorry for your losses... Love and best wishes to you.

who had no food allergies, and her favorite ice cream was Breyers Mint Chip.

Now upon a time, there is a woman who has too many food allergies. She has found that SoDelicious Mocha Fudge, SD No Sugar Added Mint Chip (no agave syrup, to which she is allergic too), and AspenLeaf's dairy-free pomegranate raspberry are all good flavors for her now.

I used to be able to find it when I lived in Seattle... there was one local company that made Lavender and Lavender-Rosemary ice creams, from all natural ingredients, with "the kiss of an angel" listed as one of the ingredients. The supermarket stopped carrying them, and I don't know if the company went out of business, but I never saw it again.

Then my favorite became Godiva White Chocolate Raspberry. That, too, has gone.

And lately, my beloved Breyer's in Philadelphia has betrayed their customer base, stopped making REAL ice cream, and instead makes what they call a "frozen dessert product" which is so utterly vile, I now weep for the fall of civilization.

But Ben & Jerry's Dublin Mudslide... the only way that could get any better would be if I could lick it off Colin Farrell's chest.

I just discovered this a couple of years ago.

I grew up thinking that vanilla was a lack of any flavor. Then I discovered some "real" vanilla gelato and found that vanilla is a taste.

Now before desert, let me recommend:

Though I'm not going to go hunting, I love buffalo burgers - get them frozen at our Whole Foods, but hard to find elsewhere. Better flavor than beef, with less fat.

Which leaves room for eating more ice cream!

My stepfather owned an Italian restaurant, and they served these little pre-packaged cups of almond flavored ice cream with crushed almonds on top. They were delectable.

Then there was a "lemon chiffon" produced for a while, I can't remember the brand, but it was super.

Sigh! I have to limit the ice cream intake now. It seems to re-deposit in the area that, in my youth, I called "Love handles".

my favorite flavir, bar none, if it's my last day on earth, is butter pecan, sugar-free or not. i've even made root beer floats with it.

....and I'll keep eating till I hit the bottom of the carton.

So I've resorted to subterfuge. Greek yogurt is my dairy fix; too darned tart to eat more than the little 6 oz cup. And my urge for sweets? That's taken care of with Medjol dates. I find them just perfect, the ideal combination of sweetness and texture. And after three or four, they start to cloy a bit, so I'm not tempted to eat more.
