Major Romney/Newt billionaire donor Sheldon Anderson IS better off now than in 2009.

According to Wikipedia:

In the Forbes 2009 world billionaires list, his ranking dropped to #178 with a net worth of $3.4 billion, but in 2011 he was ranked as the world's 16th-richest man with a net worth of $23.3 billion.
So, why is he so pissed off at Obama?  It seems that he's profited mightily under Obama's Presidency.  Maybe this is just an omen about why Mittens won't release his tax returns.  Maybe Mitt's also financially better off now than he was in 2009.  It's also easy to see how he can afford to dump $100 million or so into right-wing Republican politics.  That's just a pittance to him.

I've got nothing else to say about this.  But I'm sure you do.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

"Why is he so anxious to return to the past?"

Seems he'd be just as likely to lose that 20 billion or so under a Romney administration if the world economy collapsed. Without millions of folks willing to spend at his casinos he'd lose literal tons of money.

If we got Mitt to be slightly less dishonest and gave him some personality he could pass as a used car salesman.

a century of precedent and gave him, Sheldon Adelson, the power to influence presidential elections with his gambling revenue.  That's what's influencing his vote.

Money isn't worth the paper it's printed on if you can't use it to bend the world to your will.  Especially if you're a sociopath like Sheldon Adelson.

To an Israeli audience in 2010:

"I am not Israeli, the uniform that I wore in the military unfortunately was not an Israeli uniform, it was an American uniform, although my wife was in the IDF, and one of my daughters was in the IDF, and my two little boys — our two little boys one of whom will be bar mitzvahed tomorrow… hopefully he’ll come back [to Israel], his hobby is shooting and he’ll come back and be a sniper for the IDF... All we care about is being good Zionists, being good citizens of Israel, because even though I am not Israeli born, Israel is in my heart.”

since most of his wealth is tied up in the stock price of his company which collapsed and almost went bankrupt in the financial crisis.  So the 7x figure is a little meaningless, sort of like all those who talk about how gas prices have doubled under Obama even though they were higher in the summer of 2008 than they are now.

because of economics policy. He is a one-issue guy: Israel. Which is what makes him so dangerous. He gives outrageously large sums to a candidate (Gingrich, now Romney) and forces them to hew to the Likud line, 100%.

We have a winner. Jobs and the economy are only worse because of the GOP and a few rich fat-fucks who have more money than is obscene necessary. But I'm just a 47%er, WTF do I know.

This bozo believes he's a law onto himself and he didn't need anyone to build his empire (sarcasm alert: because casinos don't need an infrastructure to bring people to their casinos or a legal system to protect their assets.)

Both parties hue too much to these "masters of the universe" (and to a degree who really can blame them; if money can influence elections then it would be foolish of politicians not to curry favor with the wealthy,) but it much more pronounced with the GOP to the point where these rich crackpots write the policies word-for-word and this combined with their arrogance to remake the world the way they believe it "ought to be" is what drives them to the GOP no matter how well they are doing under Obama.
