A few days ago, I posted a side by side comparison of the campaign offices of President Obama and the super rich guy who won't release his income tax returns.  The good news is that Obama has added 39 new campaign offices since my last update!  The rich guy has added just 8.

Any state where there was a change is highlighted in bold, with the previous number in parenthesis next to it.

Here is the side by side comparison of campaign offices (swing states only)

                     Obama                                 Romney
Missouri            2                                          7
Michigan           23 (20)                                 22
New Hampshire  22                                       8 (7)
Minnesota         12                                      zero
Colorado           55                                      13
Florida              85 (80)                                46
Ohio                96! (79)                                36
Pennsylvania     44 (39)                                 23 (18)
Virginia             42 (40)                                29
Nevada             25                                      12 (10)
North Carolina    53 (49)                                23
New Mexico       11                                       7
Iowa                66 (65)                                13
Wisconsin         54 (52)                                23

TOTAL:           590                                     262

Currently, President Obama holds a 2.25 to 1 advantage in campaign offices.  It merits repeating that this doesn't necessarily guarantee electoral success, but more campaign offices allow greater one on one voter contact and the campaign offices drive the get-out-the-vote effort on the ground during the election.

Looking at Ohio, we can see that the President holds a 2.67 to 1 advantage in campaign offices.  In Colorado, he holds a 4.23 to 1 advantage and in Iowa, it's roughly a 5 to 1 advantage.  The Obama team has likely determined that for every campaign office you open in an area where your opponent has none, you net a certain amount of extra votes over your opponent.  This is a really smart campaign.

By the way, let's not forget that all these campaign offices require a great deal of financial support.  You can support Barack Obama's candidacy, by clicking this link!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
