Fortunately, evil is dumb.
Driven by gun regulation conspiracy theories drummed up by the gun lobby, rightwing whackjobs who already own guns are buying A LOT more of them. While gun ownership in the US has been steadily declining over the years, the number of guns potentially sold in America has gone up and up since Obama was elected. Whackjob Republicans are rushing in to fill the void in a country where being armed is less and less interesting to the public.
Pocketbook issues are a zero sum game. Money flushed down the toilet by mostly elderly Republicans (their only remaining constituency) is not being donated to Romney's election campaign or his SuperPac, which now only has $6M dollars left in the bank as I mentioned in my previous diary: Romney's SuperPAC Running On Fumes.
Smith & Wesson stock Friday was zooming, thanks to a stellar earnings report. The firearms maker also boosted its outlook for the rest of the year. Because of the strong business, its backlog of orders more than doubled from the same quarter last year, the company is concentrating on boosting production and building inventory. You go ahead and keep flushing your cash down the toilet scaredypants grandpa Republican. According to Fox News, those dark skinned people are comin' for your savings, so stock up on firepower.
“We are underserving the market at this moment, we all know that, and that’s a great opportunity going forward for us,” CEO James Debney said in a conference call with analysts.
And another gun maker, Sturm, Ruger & Co., also hit a milestone of sorts in terms of meeting consumer demand. It produced its one-millionth gun of the year…well ahead of last year’s pace.
“It took us nearly all of 2011 to build one million firearms, but in 2012 we accomplished it on August 15th,” said Ruger President and CEO Mike Fifer in a statement.
Every dollar you waste on being a delusional chicken who thinks they can solve their problems with weaponry is a dollar not in Mitt Romney's already anemic campaign fund.
And so we will win, because evil is dumb. And cowardly.
Sat Sep 22, 2012 at 1:04 PM PT: As you can see from the bad behavior HR'ing by trolls in the comments below, the problem with many gun people, even liberals, is that their fee fees are so delicate and they're so quick to seek out revenge.
