Michael Grimm’s (R-NY) drama filled campaign HQ break in story that broke this morning is all coming full circle now. His campaign HQ in Staten Island had the front window smashed. He claims that it was the work of Democratic opponents and that they erased and/or reformatted the hard drives on the computers located at his HQ. And, as an extra bonus, the would-be vandals supposedly also installed Linux on his computers….what monsters!
This morning, Michael Grimm characterized the assault as “a politically motivated crime” and “an assault on democracy”.
However, the NYT reported that the police investigators determined nothing had been done to these computers. In fact, there wasn’t even any evidence that an intruder had ever entered the office. Even to the layman, this would be apparent, considering the holes in the window were rather small, not big enough to fit a person thru by any means. And to boot, Grimm is currently under federal investigation over allegations that his campaign accepted illegal donations during his run for first term in 2010.
Oh, and the punch line, two 8 th grade boys admitted today to their school counselor that they were responsible for throwing chunks of cement thru the window. Simple case of adolescent hijinks.
So Michael Grimm is being a little too dramatic given the circumstances. Nothing in reality would give him basis to believe any of the things he claimed to have happened.
