Richard Carmona's new ad hits opponent Jeff Flake on veterans' benefits. Carmona himself is a combat veteran who earned his G.E.D. while serving in the Army. He went on to become a Special Forces Medic.
I really believe that Carmona has a real shot to win this race. He's had three very good polls in recent months. He has a good personal story. So far, the worst thing that Flake has been able to say about him is that he was recruited by Obama. Meanwhile, Flake is coming off of a very tough primary that has likely hurt his image with a lot of independents.
He cannot do it alone, however. Flake has seriously out-raised him, and, of course, has a lot of SuperPAC money behind him. According to opensecrets.org, Carmona has raised $2.9 million and spent $1.2 million. Flake has raised $5.4 million and spent $4.3 million. Most of Flakes' was spent on his primary battle.
The good news is that Carmona and Flake have roughly the same amount of cash on hand. The DCC has also gotten involved and is running ads against Flake.
We can win this and lock down a senate majority, but not without help. If you can, consider contributing a couple dollars to Carmona's campaign by going here.
