Can it already be Sunday?
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
I spent yesterday buying supplies for OctopodiCon and looking for a replacement monkeybed for Itzl since I left his in Texas and won't be getting it back.
No luck on the monkeybed, but I did manage to get the supplies for the Make a Holster for your Steampunk Discombobulator Zapper Thingummie for below half price. I got a side of leather - normally around $300 for $79!!!! Plus I picked up Tandy's new steampunk leather stamps, leather stains, daubers, sinew, and lacing needles. Total cost was under $150 for all of that. Since I had $300 budgeted for the leather workshop, that means I can apply that $150 elsewhere.
I have the supplies for the Softie Make a Cute Octopus with Top hat makeshop, and the Make a Teeny Top Hat Makeshop, and most of the supplies for the Mad a Weapon (that Steampunk Discombobulator Zapper Thingummie), and the Make an Autograph Book makeshop.
Now to organie some things and make that safari shirt I promised the videographer in exchange for his services. I'm feeling lucky there, too, because I found the fabric for less than $50 (and the man is huge - a 6 or 7X, so I needed 6 yards - for a shirt!). I had to draft his pattern with a muslin mock-up because there are no patterns for someone that large.
Tomorrow will be the sewing day.
Monday, I talk to the hotel and explain we can't afford to put up a deposit fr a cash bar for the Saturday dance - it will up our insurance by $1,000 and we can't afford that.
So, on that note, have a picture and a great day!
