Everybody seems to have an opinion about what President Obama should prepare for tonight's big debate against Mitt Romney, but I wonder how in the world can the President prepare to debate someone who stands for nothing?
I liken this to a football team preparing to play against a team it knows nothing about, but the opponent knows everything about it. A huge advantage goes to the opponent because they know exactly how to attack, because they know what the other team's strengths and weaknesses are. The President has a record and although I think it's a good one, certainly there are ways Romney can attack it.
Over the years, Romney has taken virtually every position on virtually every major issue. Per a recent report Huffington Post.Com (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...), paraphrasing Bill Maher, former U.S. Senator Arlen Specter said, "Mitt Romney has changed positions more often than a pornographic movie queen."
Given that, it's going to be tough for the President to land any serious punches on Romney, because Mitt won't hesitate to lie and really doesn't have core beliefs, so he can always claim the President isn't accurately reflecting his beliefs or policies, because they change by the hour. Trying to take Romney down for the count will be like trying to pin down a jellyfish.
I disagree with all those folks saying the President isn't a great debater. He easily defeated John McCain and stood out in the Democratic Presidential Debates in 2008. And of course the First Lady believes in his skills. "He's a great speaker, you know? I mean he's good at this," Michelle Obama told CNN about her husband in an interview set to air ahead of the debate. "He doesn't need much advice." (http://thehill.com/...)
I agree with Mrs. Obama. The problem is how do you hit a moving target...especially one that has no spine, no soul and stands for nothing?! The President is going to have his hands full tonight, but I still expect him to do well.
