Reality.
Tonight the debate didn't go the way many of us would've liked. It wasn't the best showing for team blue. Some of us wanted more assertiveness. Answering the lies directly. Different posture, tone. Whatever.
But you know what we didn't do?
Create an alternate reality. An "unskewedpolls.com" for the debate. We reported the results of the snap polls. We faced the possibility we may see some movement. We devised ways we, and the campaign, might use this debate advantageously going forward.
We didn't say everyone was conspiring against us. Or that every poll ever taken was wrong. Or that snap polls are only in republican homes.
Reality. We face it. We deal with it. We keep our eyes open and on the prize, with soberness. We make the best of conditions as they are. And thus, we keep moving forward.
I'm proud of us tonight. Even the doomsters and hysterical lefty pundits. Because rather than pretend we rocked the debate, seems mostly we admitted it wasn't our best night.
Reality.
That's what I love about liberals and about you all.
