Dr. Richard Carmona and Rep. Jeff Flake have agreed to three one-hour debates. The first will be held in Phoenix on Wednesday, October 10th.
The first, in Phoenix, is on Wednesday, October 10. It will be broadcast live on KAET-TV 8 at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and aired nationally later on PBS World and C-SPAN.
Flake had previously refused to debate, but finally gave in.
Carmona was leading in the most recent PPP poll, released on October 3rd.
PPP's newest poll of the Arizona Senate race finds Democrat Richard
Carmona leading Republican foe Jeff Flake 45-43. That represents a small shift in
Carmona's direction since our last poll of the state three weeks ago, which had found
Flake ahead by just a 44-43 margin.(emphasis mine)
They are running to fill the vacant seat left by Senator Jon Kyl, who is retiring. Flake is backed by Kyl and Senator John McCain.
This would be a huge pickup and it is most definitely in reach. Both candidates have about the same amount of cash on hand. Polling has shown that the more people get to know Flake, the less they like him. The opposite has been found of Dr. Carmona.
The debates should allow voters to see who these men really are.
