Welcome to Thursday Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is going on in your life. I have been shopping over at the MegaThrift store here in town. I made a small change to my apartment as a result of an expenditure of about $25.00. I put curtains up in all my windows.

Pixie of course had to help me. I don’t know how I managed to ever get anything done before she came along with all her expert help. ;-) In spite of her help I managed to get the curtains up with the minimum of fuss. I love how it changed the whole look of the place.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

to be a pain at cleaning time?  I use to have them when I needed the privacy but always hated having to clean them.  Now that I don't need the coverage, I just have sheers on tension rods mounted inside the window frame.  So easy to clean and let in more light.

I couldn't understand why President Obama was so off his game last night. Then, around 1 am, listening to BBC World Service, the Turkey-Syria border crisis was big, big news. The Turkish Parliament had even authorized its military to enter Syria. I realized President Obama had cleared his calendar Wednesday to deal with that -  it is a very serious national security & NATO problem, was dealing with it right up to the time he entered the building for the debate. Unfortunately, the debate was not about foreign policy,  so  the Commander-in-Chief  & "Leader of the free world"  could  not give a little "what I was doing today &  will be doing when I leave here" talk.  No wonder he looked distracted. He was stopping a  war from breaking out in the most volatile region on the planet.

Too many people forget that he is the President of the United States and not just a candidate. There is so much he couldn't tell us. Think the Osama Bin Laden raid and the Somalian Pirate raid. He knows when to keep quiet. Considering what was on his mind I think he was amazing at the debate.

And I think Obama did very well.  Romney came off as rude, pushy, and a little manic.  His voice was very shrill.  And he lied over and over.  A good example of Gish Galloping.

Obama was calm and gave considered intelligent answers.  He was a bit dense and seemed distracted - totally understandable since his job didn't stop for debate prep -  but I think he did well.

And we have to remember that Romney has been running for years.  He hasn't been distracted by any kind of work.

Neither of them really answered the questions.
