Here's what's new in our Orange to Blue races.
Speaker Pelosi Project:
FL-18: Who was the first member of Congress to jump on the BLShitter bandwagon? Like there was any question.
“I agree with former GE CEO Jack Welch, Chicago style politics is at work here,” [FL Rep. Allen] West wrote on his Facebook page Friday. “Somehow by manipulation of data we are all of a sudden below 8 percent unemployment, a month from the Presidential election. This is Orwellian to say the least and representative of Saul Alinsky tactics from the book ‘Rules for Radicals’ - a must read for all who want to know how the left strategize.”
Don't forget,
Patrick Murphy is our man in FL-18.
NH-01, -02: [David Nir] The House portions of UNH's latest New Hampshire poll are finally available. In the 1st District, Democrat Carol Shea-Porter leads GOP Rep. Frank Guinta by an enormous 47-38 margin (including leaners). That's up from a 45-43 CSP edge in August. The race in the 2nd is much tighter, with Democrat Annie Kuster holding a slim 42-41 advantage over Republican Rep. Charlie Bass.
Upgrade the Senate:
CT-Sen: Wrestling mogul Linda McMahon might have a massive personal fortune to blow on a Senate race, but Chris Murphy is no slouch when it comes to fundraising. His campaign reports a haul of $3 million over the past three months, with 30,762 contributions, 91 percent of which were $100 or less.
NM-Sen: A coalition of environment organizations commissioned a poll from PPP of Rep. Martin Heinrich's Senate race against former Rep. Heather Wilson. Consistent with most polling, except for an internal poll released by Wilson, Heinrich is leading comfortably, 51-41.
WI-Sen: Tammy Baldwin campaigned with President Obama in Madison yesterday. Meanwhile, Tommy Thompson is still awfully hard to find.
Under criticism that he hasn't been on the campaign trail enough, Thompson told WBAY-TV in Green Bay on Sunday that he had six events slated for the next day. For three days since then, campaign spokeswoman Lisa Boothe would not provide any details about them despite repeated requests.
It's almost like he's just already thrown in the towel, though he's still coming up with a lot of excuses. He was exhausted after the primary, Mitt Romney is dragging him down, and now he's talking about how the primary used up all his money. Sounds to me like he's garnering all the excuses now to be ready with them when he loses in a month.
Daily Kos for Marriage Equality:
Maine: Mainers United for Marriage has a new ad featuring Jeanette and Paul Rediker of Fort Fairfield, Maine explaining why, after 42 years of marriage, they want everyone to be able to share that experience. It's really very sweet.
Washington: How's this for an indication about how public attitudes are changing on marriage equality: Washington state companies who were once vocal in their opposition to the measure are now refusing to speak publicly about their donations to the anti-equality effort.
“They have to fear being a business that represents values that are not embraced by the majority of the population in Washington,” said Chernin. “Do they really want to be seen as not supporting equality and stable family life? I think that would not be a smart thing to do.”
