The Obama campaign broke all records for 2012 in Presidential fundraising in September 2012 with broad support and the most number of small donations ever with over $181  million raised.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $181 million last month, easily eclipsing the $114 million that they had raised together in August. The number falls just shy of the all-time monthly record of $193 million, however, which was set by Mr. Obama in September 2008.

On top of the great jobs report on Friday, the enthusiam of the Democrats after the Convention really boosted the fundraising in September for Obama in my opinion.

Mr. Obama has raised nearly half his money through small donations with aggressive solicitation programs targeting email, social media and cell phone texting services. Last month's fundraising also included the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., and a notable bump in the polls for the president in subsequent weeks.

While I am more in favor of public financing of all elections, I understand the need for the Obama campaign and the Democrats to raise large amounts of money this year with the huge stakes in this election. Plus with the power of the Super PACs and dark money being spent, I can see no alternative.

I know all those fundraising emails to our email boxes from the Obama campaign helped persuade many to give multiple times. I know I succumbed to their daily appeals in my inbox multiple times. Just couldn't resist!

Well, Congratulations to all those who contributed to this big fundraising success!

12:23 PM PT: Don't forget to volunteer for your local Democratic candidates, get involved in your neighborhood or volunteer for the Obama campaign in the last big push:

I found plenty of neighborhood activist in my community just by signing up.

4:16 PM PT: Don't forget your local races. Look to help members of Congress and Senate races, they all need your help.

Members of your state legislature (including state reps/delegates and State Senators) are the ones who make the state voting laws such as Photo ID, early voting, etc.

I can guarantee you that if you volunteer with your local state representatives, you stand a good chance of being on a first name basis with your state representative and they are so important.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
