Earlier this morning Gallup issued a press release claiming that the Presidential race was tied 47 to 47.
Romney Narrows Vote Gap After Historic Debate Win
Media (including a rec list diary
hereabouts) reported that the race is tied, thereby reinforcing this apparition in the minds of media consumers.
But Gallup ever so conveniently culled that data from their 7 day tracker.
The problem for Republicans is that the tracker now shows Obama leading 50-45 (Oct 1-7), and pre-debate, the tracker was at Obama 49-45 (for Sep 26 - Oct 2 and also for Sep 27 - Oct 3).
Gallup's morning release would be an accomplished work of disinformation for a seasoned political operative. That it came from a supposedly non-partisan pollster is all sorts of strange.
Note: Previously, Marc Blumenthal convincingly argued that Gallup has a Republican lean this year.
