I live in a state where Obama will win no matter what. However the neighboring state is in play and since I live on the border I am concentrating on in the other state.
While there are many many issues at stake, for me there are some that are close to heart and I wanted to write about them. These are in the order that I think of them :
1) Jobs : While there was progress in the last 4 years, there remains a lot to be done. While we can argue whether enough progress was made or not, that to me is moot. What matters is that I am convinced that a Obama administration will do a lot more to create jobs in the next 4 years than any other.
2) Wars : Obama has demonstrated a clear level head in addressing issues that face this country abroad. He does not rush in but listens, understands, and lets the folk that are best to deal with the situation (our troops, etc) handle it. I can trust him more than anyone else to keep the country safe and out of needless wars.
3) Spending/Taxes etc : Obama has taken a balanced approach and while some may not like the balance and feel he spends or taxes too much or too little, the progress made in the last few years has demonstrated the wisdom of the approach.
4) Health Care : I look forward to more of Obama care. Actually I dream of Universal Health care in the next term.
5) Gun Control : If there is one issue that I can complain about in the last 4 years it is gun control. However again on this, the choice is clear. I am however hoping that this issue will be addressed.
6) Immigration : Even GWB thought we needed a better immigration policy. Needless to say, Obama will do more here as well.
7) Social Issues : We need to address the issues that divide us and come up with common sense policy that while respecting the beliefs of others ensures that everyone has the same rights - be it the right to marriage or religious or ... Obama is the right person here as well.
