Isn't there a very simple way to pose the stakes of this election to voters?
The vast majority of Americans support Social Security and Medicare the way they are now.
Republicans want to privatize social security and voucherize medicare.
Everything flows from this:
1. The "$716 Billion" preserved Medicare without benefit cuts.
2. Republican tax cuts for the wealthy are the real threat to these programs.
3. The Romney/Ryan Plan puts back the "donut hole" and cuts nursing home care, so it does hurt current retirees.
4. Republicans assume the elderly don't care about Medicare and Social Security for the children and grandchilden.
5. The Clinton surplus was turned into a deficit by Bush and the Republicans.
Up until the debate, Romney and Ryan were not even trying to hide that their message is We are going to screw you. So vote for us.
Time to remind people that it's all very simple:
The vast majority of Americans support Social Security and Medicare the way they are now.
Republicans want to privatize social security and voucherize medicare.
