The Youngstown Vindicator has given Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown its full endorsement, and shellacked his opponent, Josh Mandel. For some insight as to why, just watch this snippet from their editorial board meeting with Mandel.
It's epitomized by this exchange:
Mandel: Please, sir, don't put words in my mouth.
Editor: Somebody's gotta put words in your mouth because all you do is talk in circles.
The
Vindicator said of Mandel in its endorsement:
These imaginary outsiders will say whatever they think the voters want to hear. If there were a dictionary entry for such political mendacity, it could carry the picture of Josh Mandel, Ohio’s current treasurer and the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.
With that endorsement, the
Vindicator joins the
Cleveland Plain Dealer and the
Toledo Blade in endorsing Brown.
We can turn Mandel's terrible campaign into a major win, not just in Ohio, but nationally. Right now, Ohio is looking great for Brown, tight for President Obama. There are two things you can do to help improve the outlook for Obama in this must-win state. The first really only works if you're an Ohioan: Vote early.
The second thing you can do is contribute to Sherrod Brown's reelection campaign. Brown has the largest Democratic campaign operating in Ohio, and exclusively in Ohio. That campaign will be spent on a massive get out the vote effort that will get Democrats to the polls, including Democrats voting for President Obama. A contribution to Sen. Brown not only helps a great Democrat stay in the Senate, but it guarantees that 100 percent of your donation will be spent getting residents of the nation's most important swing state to vote for Democrats.
Please donate $3 to keep Sherrod Brown in the Senate and get Ohio Democrats to the polls.
