There is a mild controversy astir over a Pennsylvania girl who wore a Romney-Ryan T-shirt to school and was mocked by her teacher for wearing it.
The ordeal made national headlines last week when Samantha, 16, wore a pink Romney-Ryan shirt to Charles Carroll High School. Her geometry teacher, Lynette Gaymon, "told me to get out of the classroom," Samantha told NBC10. "She told me to take off my shirt and said that she has another one if I need one. And then the teacher asked me...'are your parents Republican?' I said, 'I don't know.' She said, 'That's like wearing a KKK shirt.' "
Gaymon apologized to the family and said her comment was meant as a joke.
News of the incident got back to the Romney campaign and Mitt Romney arranged to call Samantha at her home to thank her for her support. The call was arranged in advance and the family was told to expect the call at 8:30 PM later that day. Unfortunately, Samantha wasn't home to receive the Republican Presidential candidate's phone call.
Romeny wanted to thank Samantha for standing up for herself. Her parents were expecting the call, but her dad said it slipped his mind and he didn't get her home in time. Her mom ended up talking to Romney and said it was like "talking to a neighbor"
The Republican presidential candidate
arranges - in advance - to call the Pawlucy home, and Samantha's father
forgets, and takes his daughter to Tae Kwon Do instead.
Pawlucy, the 16-year-old high school sophomore at the center of the Romney-Ryan t-shirt controversy, was at the family-run tae kwon do school Wednesday evening. When the GOP presidential candidate called around 8:30 p.m., Pawlucy was on her way back, her father, Richard, said. She missed the call.
Relaying what his wife told him, Richard Pawlucy said Romney called to thank his daughter for standing up for herself and see how the family is doing.
Richard Pawlucy said he was to blame for his daughter missing Romney's call. He said the family knew to expect a call a few hours in advance, but he "totally forgot" and took his daughter to the martial arts school in Horsham.
He forgot?
SERIOUSLY?
I guess the parents aren't big Romney supporters? How could someone 'forget' that the presidential candidate would be calling? You know if this were President Obama, nothing remotely like this would have happened. Let the mocking begin. (The teacher is under investigation until further notice).
