Obviously. Unemployment is lower. Jobs numbers are higher. The stock market has doubled. Housing prices are rising. Millions more Americans have health insurance coverage. Drug prices for seniors are lower. The auto industry is burgeoning. Middle class taxes are lower. The national deficit is $200 billion lower. Osama Bin Laden is no longer a threat. The Iraq war is over and the troops are home. Americans are no longer losing 900k jobs a month. Businesses are no longer closing in staggering numbers.
And everything I listed above the squiggle makes Republicans scream in agony and DENIAL, even though they witness it in their own lives! Why?
My Republican (born and raised) neighbor is over 65. She loves her hip-replacement Medicare and widow's Social Security benefits. She's seen her drug costs reduced by $600 a year. Her taxes have gone down. Her stock portfolio has doubled. All since Barack Hussein Obama took office. All within the last four years.
She's a curious neighbor and I kept her apprised of how our family business lost all it's contracts in 2008 and how we only stayed open by firing our employees and living off our savings, which lasted over a year. But then, I told her how things recovered once Obama's stimulus took off. We re-hired our employees, we're busy hiring contractors back and traveling and SPENDING MONEY, creating other jobs, for our business again.
So, she's well aware of the difference between a Democratic economy and a Republican economy, yet she tells me she can't vote for Obama because, "he's a Socialist and his health care bill had too many pages and the jobs numbers aren't real.". I asked her if she really wanted that "creepy" guy Romney for president and she told me, "not really and to be perfectly honest, a lot of my Republican friends hate Obama and Romney, so they won't be voting this year." (This was AFTER their first debate, btw). Nothing I could say would convince her that her description of Obama was wrong, so I'm happy to hear she may not be too willing to vote for Romney, but I find it amazing that she can just ignore how much better off this country is after four years of President Barack Obama.
Most of us are better off than we were four years ago and it's really horrifying to imagine what would have happened if McCain was president instead. Folks, we'll all have a chance to find out what that would have been like if Romney takes the oath of office instead of Barack Obama come next January. Probably even worse, since Romney likes to "harvest" American jobs by selling them overseas and women's rights will disappear, putting their lives at risk, along with everyone else's affordable healthcare.
Let's make absolutely certain that DOES NOT HAPPEN, no matter what the pundits tell us we're seeing in the next two debates.
GOTV for the Best. President. Ever.
