The most effective attacks on Romney in both the primaries and general election has been about his tenure at Bain. Offshoring jobs, shipping factories overseas, layoff thousands of workers, draining profits, crazy management fees, and the overall reality of what vulture capitalism has done for the sake of profits.

Hidden in the first presidential debate is a nugget of pure Bain gold. A moment of truth uttered by Romney that shines light and backs up all the previous attacks on his Bain record.

President Obama: And part of the way to do it is to not give tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas. Right now you can actually take a deduction for moving a plant overseas. I think most Americans would say that doesn’t make sense...

Gov. Romney: You said you get a deduction for taking a plant overseas. Look, I've been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant...

WTF?  Did Romney just serve up the biggest softball pitch ever in a Presidential debate? Are you kidding me? Where was Obama's home run swing on that one? That remark defines Romney and acknowledges that he has personally shipped plants overseas.

Why hasn't Jed Lewison put up a damning video of this? Why hasn't KOS or any one of the front pagers pushed this moment? Meme anyone? I don't know how to edit videos are how to write a kick ass diary so someone needs to take this and run with it. This is something that the KOS community is all about. Finding the golden nugget that the MSM has missed.

Cash that nugget in!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

when he was describing in a speech how it couldn't have been the real Mitt Romney he debated.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Coincidentally, I just posted a comment on this in another thread:

    Obama could have skewered him

Well, Gov. Romney, if you did not take advantage of that tax deduction when you were outsourcing jobs to China, there are only 3 possibilities

    1.  you have a very faulty memory of what you have actually said and done in the past

    2.  you ill-served your shareholders and are not as good a businessman as you claimed

    3.  perhaps we should question your veracity

and making lists like that in his debate. What IS Obama like when he's angry? MY own Dad just got quieter and quieter the more upset he got, and I can see Obama being that way too. But we sure do need more straight talk and fire directly out of the Prez, not just his second.

you've had quite a few front page diaries, or at least some in the Recommended list. What can be done to get a video done up on this? Can you write a diary? I bet if you did, Jed, Kos, Clawson and other big boys will read it.

      Thanks for the comment.

"Why do you need a new accountant?"

Romney would then have to say that he wants in on some of that tax break action for shipping jobs overseas.  That would be an admission that he has shipped jobs overseas and regrets not having gotten the tax break out of the deal as well.

The Sensata story, however, reveals that Bain seems to have profited from those tax breaks, so Romney's "I don't know what you're talking about"  reveals instead that Romney does know what he's talking about when he claims that his business acumen is the basis of his candidacy.  He's pretty much caught in a trap either way.

    •  either way.... (0+ / 0-)

Romney realized that's a topic that he should've stayed away from. But his condescending frat boy mentality got the better of him. He's so stoked that he hasn't been bludgeoned with ads pointing that out.

Hopefully the Sensata story brings his Bain life back to the forefront.
