Another day, another lie from far-right radical Mission: America's Linda Harvey. She had the nerve to say that the "Democrats and feminists are the ones starting a 'War On Women'," which any sane-minded person knows it's Conservatives such as Harvey, Republicans, and the #TCOT Brigade that are instigating the "War On Women."

Brian Tashman at RWW:

Harvey: Anyone who is genuinely objective cannot miss the fact that life does indeed begin at conception and that true human equality should make us value all human life from that time forward. Those who don’t don’t really have a human rights agenda, they have a sexual permissiveness agenda, that is the actual priority of most feminists even as they try to disguise it as concern about harming women. It’s another lie. The Democrats are the ones truly making a war on women, right from targeting and killing babies in the womb, female and male, abortion hurts women. So by the way does homosexuality, wasteful government spending, dependency on welfare, our weak national defense and many of the other items the Democratic Party proudly stands for. Back when I was a feminist there was a war going on, but it was me, a war with myself and with how God created me, and that in my opinion is what is taking place in the heart, mind and soul of every liberal woman.

Even more of Harvey's crazy rhetoric, mostly of the homophobic and Islamophobic variety:

Anti-LGBTQ:
She misleadingly declares that "Gay [LGBTQ] rights cost not only jobs, but lives"

Harvey:The National Organization for Marriage just released a very interesting report about the companies that support homosexuality as marriage; they are paying a price, literally, and of course, when a company doesn’t do well that means jobs in America are lost. Here are the specifics: the marriage group quoted an article in Forbes which tried to soften the reality of their findings but the truth is companies that support same-sex marriage lose positive band perception among both Democrats and Republicans. This reputation-loss is more pronounced among Republicans but the consumer distaste goes across party lines. The brands that were studied included Amazon.com, American Apparel, Apple, General Mills Brands, Google, Home Depot, JC Penney, Levi’s, Macy’s, Microsoft, Nabisco, Nike and Starbucks. I don’t know about you but in our house of those mentioned above we no longer patronize Macy’s, Home Depot or JC Penney, we no longer order from Amazon and we no longer buy any General Mills cereals. Some of these companies may be seeing a downturn in sales, when that continues it can lead to layoffs and lost jobs.
Harvey encourages her listeners to boycott comic books due to "pro-Gay Agenda views:"
Harvey: I grew up reading comic books. I was a huge Archie and Veronica fan so when I learned that Archie was rolling out a gay character I felt like part of my childhood had been revised according to the ever-present gay agenda. The new character, Kevin, was injected into the story in 2010 and the writers made him a military hero, trying to advance that part of their political goals. Well now this year Kevin was shown entering a homosexual so-called marriage with another male. There had been plans for the glorified Kevin to have even his own comic book. The original Green Lantern character Alan Scott was reintroduced earlier this summer as himself in his long ago days of youth but with the new information that he had really been a homosexual all along as a young man. The Marvel Comics X-Men character Northstar was introduced as a homosexual way back in 1992 and just recently the storyline had him marry a longtime boyfriend. Batwoman, Kathy Kane, was introduced several years ago as a lesbian. In 2005 Marvel introduced a new series called ‘The Young Adventures’ including characters called Hulkling and someone called Wiccan who the publishers decided to make a homosexual couple. Some of these stories are complete with full-on males kissing males, and so on. And some people claim there’s no homosexual agenda?
Harvey advances anti-LGBTQ and anti-Teachers Unions smear for promotion of LGBT-friendly policies:
Linda Harvey of Mission America is out with another attack against the National Education Association, which she earlier claimed is leading “gaystapo efforts” and creating “financial incentives” for students to become gay. On her radio program yesterday, Harvey said that the NEA is promoting “destructive beliefs” and an “anti-life, anti-morality agenda” by supporting the health care reform law and LGBT rights, and warned that their efforts to curb bullying and encourage safety for LGBT students and staff is part of “a Trojan Horse to bring pro-homosexual indoctrination into our schools.”
Harvey: "Lady Gaga's Born This Way leads kids down a destructive and demonic path":
Harvey: I don’t know if you’ve seen the video and I don’t recommend it but the theme is not just about a deviant view of gender and sexuality but it is occult in spirituality and it’s referring to first of all there’s all these gruesome birth scenes which is a complete and utter perversion and really a demonic caricature, frankly, of God’s creation, yet she dares to use words like ‘brave’ and so on. Of course she has the usual distortion, including that homosexuality and gender confusion that they’re similar to race or ethnicity, and that’s another big lie, the thing is just full of lies.
Harvey distastefully refers pro-LGBTQ policies in schools as "child abuse":
Harvey: So, the engraved invitation has been sent to untold numbers of pedophiles and pederasts. School “non-discrimination” policies on “sexual orientation” keep that door open and all protectors of children at arm’s length. The National Education Association has numerous policies supporting the “safe” (read: unchallenged) expression of homosexual behavior by children in schools. These are often pushed by its “GLBT” Teachers’ Caucus.

Schools feel the increasing presence, whether they like it or not, of advocacy groups like the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, or GLSEN, and the Human Rights Campaign. The newest campaigns of both these groups is to reach elementary students. If we cooperate, it’s easy for some children to become targets.

Harvey misleadingly declared that "LGBTQ teachers are danger to kids":
Harvey: The [Ohio Education Association] has endorsed and officially recognized a caucus of the union called the GLBT Caucus, which stands for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender. Let me translate, this means that among the teachers who are representatives to this teacher professional group, there’s a subgroup of openly homosexual, bisexual and either transvestite or gender-changed teachers who are proud enough of all this that they’ve formed their own group. Are all your red flags on high alert at this point as mine are? Do you sense danger to our kids? Not to mention one sad lie upon another?

Well, take this piece of information and add the following, the same GLBT Caucus in this latest proposal are to have a representative sit on all the committees on the Ohio Education Association and one of the reasons they will serve on these committees is to ‘advance GLBT students’ constitutional rights.’

Sometimes it’s hard to cut through the layers of deception but here’s my take on all this: certain teachers who are open and proud homosexuals, bisexuals, or are confused about their God-given gender, are simply because of their involvement in sinful, God-dishonoring behavior, being given the opportunity to proudly represent this behavior and make sure students can go down this road also. And apparently in our Ohio teachers union there simply is no other viewpoint. Now this hasn’t passed yet so we can pray that it doesn’t. Where I wonder is the Christian Caucus? The Tea Party Teachers Caucus? The Abstinence-until-marriage Caucus? We won’t find them, friends, in our Ohio teachers union.

Harvey declares that "Day Of Silence as 'dishonoring God'":
Harvey: You can keep your kids home that day if you suspect or you find out that teachers are going to accommodate this protest silence in order to honor homosexuality, let’s be clear about what this is, this is a God-dishonoring day that honors sin, sinful, immoral behavior that most parents don’t want their children involved in.
Harvey tells her audience that "parents should not send their kids to pro-LGBTQ/Gay-Straight Alliance colleges":
Harvey: Are you looking for guidance about where to send your son or daughter to college, well perhaps some recent news items about colleges will help. First, check out any trend toward gender neutrality on campus. More and more colleges are instituting bathrooms, showers and locker rooms for both males and females and whatever might me in-between, and you might be interested to know that there are now at least fifty-four colleges and universities in the U.S. with gender neutral housing. Yes, that means just what you’re thinking, students can be roommates regardless of their God-given genders. Another trend is toward bolder support for homosexuality, even at religious schools. We’ve been talking about the push to officially recognize homosexuals on the campuses of some evangelical colleges, which ones will remain faithful to God’s word and which will cave in to transient, trendy sexual preferences? It remains to be seen but if I were a parent I would check any potential college to see if a Gay Straight Alliance or any similar group comes up on a Google search.

Forty-three percent of Catholic colleges have some sort of homosexual group recognized on campus. This is recent news and another sign that moral judgment is deteriorating in the face of aggressive homosexual activism. So a faith-based school with a homosexual group has probably lost its first love for Jesus and His truth. Perhaps, parents, it’s a good idea to seek other alternatives.

Harvey suggested that groups like the "APA arent't to be trusted due to their pro-gay rights views":
Harvey: I know we all want to believe what is told to us by folks in the white lab coats, and much of the time we can. But when it comes to issues dealing with lifespan and sexuality, mainstream medicine is falling under the spell of leftwing politics. Doctors can be politically correct to the detriment of patient care. Organized medicine has already gone far down this road and it becomes quite obvious in the fields of obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, public health and psychology. Who determines who will live and who will die? From conception to natural death, this should be in the hands of God not humans, and yet most obstetricians will both deliver babies, new life coming into our world, and turn around and refer other patients to abortionists like Planned Parenthood.

It’s troubling when respected medical groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics now support abortion and even homosexuality among children. This is why there are splinter professional groups being formed, well-respected physicians who cannot support these harmful practices in good conscience. For instance the group NARTH, National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, was formed some years back to counteract the increasingly politically motivated decisions of groups like the American Psychiatric Association. The APA removed homosexuality from its list of disorders in 1973 based on pressure from disruptive and vicious homosexuals and not because of some new scientific breakthrough.

Harvey: "Anti-bullying programs will turn schools into indoctrination camps":
Harvey: As we’ve found out time and again, so-called conservative, pro-life politicians are sometimes wrongly persuaded that homosexuality is a worthy lifestyle and cause. This amounts to promotion of these lifestyle’s to kids brought into schools in the Trojan Horse of anti-bullying programs. We already have these programs in many schools, but federal involvement adds a troubling new dimension. If these amendments pass, they do nothing to protect kids that isn’t already available at the local level. The only thing they will do is threaten local school districts with a cutoff of federal funds if the schools aren’t turned into indoctrination camps where conservative viewpoints are systematically silenced all to fulfill the fondest wishes of those who want traditional morality to disappear.

Special rights for homosexual behavior are not needed. This makes me very sad for every child in our schools who will be subjected to this deception. There is a very well-traveled path out of homosexuality that every child deserves to hear about. But no, this will become like California in every state, a bigoted mandate to force everyone to accept and approve of homosexuality. Please call our Ohio senators, Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown, tell them in that in the upcoming, big education bill, we don’t want the federal government using bullying prevention as a tool to force approval of homosexuality and gender bending on children, teachers and families.

Harvey: "LGBTQ Christians and their allies should leave the faith":
Harvey: To try to slither around sin is not a novel idea, but to organize a group of folks to proudly renounce the teaching of Scripture is fragrantly defiant. They have bought the idea that there are people who are born to be homosexual or bisexual or in the wrong-sex body, it defies not just the teaching of Scripture but common sense, what kind of a Creator puts someone in the wrong-sex body? Or creates people destined to mate with just the same-sex, never being able to create new life together and always having problems making the anatomy work. Well, there’s a simple answer: our loving and all powerful Creator did not do this. This is the foolish and wandering heart of man.

Once you buy into the ‘born that way’ idea then self-delusion is not that far behind. There’s no evidence there are different humans called LGBTQ people, these are sinful behaviors, not in-born identities. And people do not have to cower in fear or depression or shame, if you truly love God you accept His will knowing it’s best for your life and it’s His design that will make you happy. God’s grace can and will help anyone who resolves to go beyond these feelings, to put them aside, and decide that He is sovereign.

But One Wheaton has apparently decided they are sovereign. They would be more respectful if they simply walked away from Christianity. But to try and stay and change it is worse than hypocrisy—it’s deception.

Harvey urges parents to refuse care from LGBTQ doctors:
Harvey: How do you feel about open homosexuals tending to your child in a health care setting? Do you think these folks provide good role modeling at a time when your child is very vulnerable? I was thinking about this recently when I heard that Children’s Hospital in Columbus has a homosexual employees group called NCHARGE, which stands for Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Advocates Representing Gay Employees. The meeting minutes of this groups reveal that they participated in last June’s gay pride parade, that they participated in a health expo on adolescent health this summer and that they’re concerned about same-sex partner benefits. They’re also planning to be identified with rainbow lapel pins.

But let’s say your eleven year-old has broken her leg rather badly and needs to be in the hospital a few days, which would you prefer: a nurse who’s proud of her lesbianism, who has rainbow identifiers on her work clothing, or a nurse who does not?

I would like to suggest that parents think long and hard about this. If you want your children to admire people who proclaim a homosexual lifestyle, they’re involvement with your child during a hospital stay is sure to be an influence. And let me be clear that folks involved in these behaviors can be certainly competent workers but they are tacking on to their workplace identity one that is highly offensive to many people and can be erroneously influential to children who won’t, or shouldn’t, see the whole picture of how this behavior really manifests itself.

Here’s what parents can do: select your pediatrician very carefully, first of all. There are a few homosexual doctors treating kids, there are far more nurses, LPNs, technicians and other health care workers in these lifestyles so you may want to consider writing a letter that you file with your pediatrician that should your child ever be hospitalized, you do not want your child to be treated or cared for by one of these members of the Children’s Hospital gay employees group except in the case of an emergency situation. But for routine in-hospital care where contact with your child would be required, your values should be respected.

Harvey suggests that "gays and lesbians should be banned from teaching":
Harvey: Kids should not be put in the confusing position of having a teacher they like and respect in many ways who’s also known to be practicing homosexual behavior. Of course that’s where many of our children in public schools today find themselves because the National Education Association not only allows but applauds and defends openly homosexuality and even transvestite teachers…. The fact is that no homosexuality should be in our schools, period. When people leave that behavior behind, then they might be qualified for a job involving children. Out and proud homosexuals should not have jobs that involve children. I know that’s not the current policy in many schools but it should be.
Harvey sides with Islamic fundamentalists (the same group she opposes) due to their opposition of homosexuality:
Harvey: Recently there was a rare instance where outspoken Muslims and I were on the same side of an issue. In Pakistan as part of Gay Pride month, US State Department employees, those at the embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, held a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender pride event. Can you imagine? The utter foolishness here is beyond belief. But they got what could’ve been predicted as a reaction, outrage from the local Muslim community. Of course, one is left to wonder if this wasn’t the goal: rebellion and more of the perpetual in-your-face antics of homosexual activism all to stand up for this deviant lifestyle, something that should be a disgrace to our nation.

In a brief statement on the State Department website they justified their actions; they said it was to demonstrate support for “human rights, including LGBT rights in Pakistan at a time when those rights are increasingly under attack from extremists elements throughout Pakistani society.” Well, homosexuality is not a human right, folks. God has already told us about this behavior and it’s always a sin.

Earth to Harvey and other homophobes: homosexuality IS a human right.

Islamophobia:
Harvey joined in on the Halal Turkey conspiracy aided by Geller:

Harvey: A few weeks back we bought a frozen turkey and it was in the refrigerator thawing, all on schedule, when the day before I read an article on the news website WorldNetDaily that revealed once again how Sharia, Islamic practices are starting to invade everyday life in the U.S., just as they have in Europe. It seems that the company Butterball had secretly, without marking it on any of the packaging, prepared all its whole turkeys according to Islamic dietary and spiritual guide called halal. It’s more than just a cleanliness procedure, the turkey is slaughtered and while the blood is draining out, praises to Allah are chanted over the meat. As a Christian, I really don’t want to eat meat that has been dedicated to a false god. Now the first question I had was, is this really true? I called Butterball and they confirmed that yes, all their whole turkeys were halal according to USDA guidelines, they said. This seems like a lot of extra trouble and cost for a relatively small market, but I suppose we should take them at their word. So I go to the refrigerator and sure enough, my turkey is a Butterball, so now what should I do? I went out that evening and searched out a non-halal, fresh turkey which was not on my to-do list for a busy holiday. Just let me say I am not going to be buying any Butterball products again and I later went to Kroger and got my money back. Why do we have to put up with this in America?
Harvey falsely accuses Obama of "pandering to Islam, while ignoring Christians"
Harvey: You would think that our leaders would understand by now that we are not dealing with a reasonable ideology and it's time to stop making excuses. At the very least you would think Barack Obama could be consistent. If he and his cabinet members are willing to plead for understanding for Islam despite the violent track record shown by so many people who adhere to this faith, you would think that our president would have a soft heart for Christians in this country who are anxious to be able to live out our faith principles. If he respects, understands, and apologizes for one religion, why not others? But that is unfortunately not the case ... He bends over backwards for Islam while sticking it to Christians time and again.

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
