“Are you going to Joe Scarborough's Fair?” and other songs of the Republican Fantasy

Joe Scarborough, former Congressman and now “Republican media lobbyist” and host of MSNBC TV show “Morning Joe”, gave insight into the Republican strategy to “perpetuate their domination” of our political system with the aid of the media empire they control.

Scarborough indicated that if Mitt Romney wins the election and moves to the center it will force Democrats to have to go along with Romney’s policies or face difficulty being re-elected next term in their own districts.

Republican’s expect no consequence to their obstruction of President Obama or their attack on the women and poor in social issues over these last four years because they dominate and control the media.  When you control the conduit you control the message.

We have seen extensive information about who is behind the Tea Party, the Koch brothers.
We are now aware of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and its agenda.  We are now aware of Bain Capital’s ties to Clear Channel Broadcasting and its agenda.  We are now aware of Jack Welch and GE and their control over NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network, Comcast, and more.
The reality is about 6 Corporations own 90% of all media.  All controlled by Conservatives.

We have noted the influx of campaign finance contributions from the banking industry to Tea Party Congress people but there has been a lack of specifics about the TEA PARTY and Republican’s in general on how they voted on specific jobs and economic issues the President and Democrats asked for.  Why?

Why are we letting Republican media define President Obama’s record while at the same time denying their own “obstruction” and “voting record?”  Why isn’t there a unified outcry about how Republican Governors all across the country with the aid of Republican legislatures have sat on, refused, or even diverted Federal monies designated to assist people in their state?

It’s time to take the gloves off.  Monopolies are destroying our country.  The White House has a Press Office and its own media production capability.  The government should define the issues first and give both sides of the issue before special interests ever have a chance to control the message.  Fact based information of a non-partisan nature could be directed to the public.

Republican media uses its power to define issues.  It’s time we take that power away from them!

The Public Broadcasting Network has the capability to present investigative reports and get them to the American people too.

In an effort to appear non-partisan and fair we have given those who have no such compunction power over us.  A comparison of the first two Presidential Debates make the consequences real clear.  We must speak up against lies and propaganda.  We must respond.  And we must not be afraid to use the mediums still available to us before Republican media censorship takes them off the table too.

It seems to me that in addition to pointing to those behind the Republican onslaught we should also put forth Republican voting records and hold Republicans accountable as Joe Scarborough assumes Republican’s would hold Democrats if they were then in power.

Words can be manipulated and spun but voting records speak for themselves.
Without “consequences” these dysfunctional Republicans will continue to control our society.
Vote STRAIGHT DEMOCRAT in November and help keep our democracy alive.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

"Are you going to 'Scarborough Fair'"  or Joe Scarborough Fair

I'd hate for this great song to be attributed to Repugs...

I understand and and have changed the title.
I hope this one is less offensive.
I can appreciate where you come from.
I like Simon and Garfunkel too and meant in no way to diminish a good song.

I just wanted to say that I loved this item!  You are SO right about the corporatization of the media.  I can't even laugh anymore when the Repugs go on and on about the "liberal media."  What a joke!  Too bad it isn't funny.

I can remember the olden days when I use to buy that "liberal media bias" stuff too.

I guess I was on the wrong side of the fence back then.

I guess now I would say I'm on the "right side of history."
