A new video montage of President Obama defining Romnesia ... with clips from Mitt Romney himself (or should that be himselves?) proving the president's point:

Please give the president a boost by chipping in $5 to help him close strong in the final two weeks of this campaign.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

If you give to Obama's campaign directly, you get more bang for your buck - they get the lowest advertising rates.

But SuperPacs get charged much higher rates...

So, if you haven't maxed out - give to the Obama Campaign, we are in the last stretch..

BTW, Nate Silver at 538 has an interesting article about the gender gap in this thing.  Women MUST get out and vote like their lives depend on it (well, it does).

If Obama blows it tonight the way he did the first debate he has lost the election.

No matter how much he and his get-out-the-vote flaks say it's all up to us the truth is it's mostly up to him.

Does he come shining through or does he choke?

  •  Sadly ... (9+ / 0-)

A good percentage of the country suffers from this affliction. If you have lived through the last 30 years and you now suddenly believe that cutting taxes on the rich and eliminating regulations for big corporations will balance the budget and put people back to work, you may have Romnesia.

    we are having fun.

Are voters listening? I'm guessing not with Obama losing ground in the underlying poll numbers. Gender gap down to 8?

This is a complete messaging failure by Team Obama.

We know the Ryan plan is VERY unpopular but it seems Romney is continuing to fool a lot of people.

Sesame street and Romnesia is not a solid reason why swing voters will vote FOR Obama.

The MSM is doing everything in its power to support the horse-race meme.  It's truly unbelievable and quite pathetic.

One of the most well-respected pollsters in the country issues polls in OH and PA which basically confirm that Romney has no path to victory and what does the MSM do - they spin the damn polls in Romney favor based on trend lines from September! UN-Fucking-believable!

Take a look at Politico, NBC News, First Read, etc.  Every single media outlet is doing their best to make this a horse-race.  Romney could have a 1% chance of hitting a path to victory and the MSM is going to say that his chances are "increasingly plausible" because he had a 0% yesterday (check out Halperin this morning).  UN-Fucking-believable!

      •  Absolutely right. (0+ / 0-)

The media keep telling the country that it's so close, the only thing that will make the difference in this election is who spends the most money.

That is, who will give the most money to all those media companies that keep telling us that this will be the difference.  This is about as close to a blackmail scheme as you can get without being de facto extortion.

Hell, the campaigns keep saying it, and many of us--myself included--keep clicking that Quick Donate button.  But while we're donating to the campaigns of the candidates we support, it's just a pass-through payment to the media outlets we so distrust.

Electoral finances have benefited media companies to a ridiculous degree.  The presidential election of 2012 is the goose that laid the billion dollar egg, and its all in the media nest.

I believe they are actually rooting for him to win and doing everything in their power to sway public opinion in his favor and/or depress enthusiasm from Democrats.

I see way more than just a ratings war now. It seems very  personal for most of the beltway or mainstream media and their pundits.
Maybe they want to keep their Bush tax cuts. No doubt they all make much more than $250,000.

It IS a war and the losing side is now throwing everything it has into the field.

After a generation of coming to believe that perception IS reality, they are now really do think they can wag the dog by changing the perception.

But as early votes are going off the scale in a number of states, as Latinos and Blacks are finally waking up to the fact that they CAN show up and make a difference and that this might be their last chance to do so, this may also be the first reality-based election in my lifetime.

Kennedy's smile and perfect hair versus Nixon's stubble and sweat set the balls rolling and we have now reached the moment when the electoral process finally vanishes into the puffball of media-induced fantasy, or reality reasserts itself on the street.

America has failed so many times to turn away from the drug, it has failed my whole life even to acknowledge the drug, let alone its dependence on it, that i have only a 50% chance that it will make it.

But if it does, places like this will have made a big chunk of that difference.

it ain't over till it's over.  Having been burned before, I refuse to let myself think Obama has this one hands down.

    •  The Whole System is Rigged to Have a Horse Race (0+ / 0-)

It is a self completing cycle.

The TV media needs a horse race so you stay tuned to the idiot box and sell add time.   A close race provides an incentive for the campaigns to continue buying advertisements which prop up media profitability.  The campaigns need a close race to get thier supporters to send more money their way to pay for the advertisements.  They also need the appearance of a horse race to incentivize their supporters to vote--since in a close race every vote counts.

The only way to figure out what is REALLY going on is to look at how the campaigns spend their time and to extent the SuperPac money.  After tonight there will be roughly ten days that will shape the exact contours of he election--it won't be the polls, it will be how the campaigns operate.  Look to see where Romney and Ryan go and where Obama and Biden Go.

When it comes to spending, don't look at the campaigns or thier own PACS.  In that sense look at what Crossroads does.  The campaigns have to spend their money on the Presidential campaign but Crossroads does not.  Look at thier allocation between Senate and Presidential campaigns in the states to get an idea what is winable and what states are really in play.  Karl Rove is not a political fool (there are any other horrible traits that he has, but that is a separate conversation).  At this late date in the election he is not going to drop $3,000,000 in a state like PA or WI when the "true numbers" show they are not winnable.  Alternatively if he drops add buys in a state, then you need to keep an eye on it.

    •  got that right (0+ / 0-)

they've got the suspenseful Tom Clancy movie music playing in the background as Chuck Todd goes over the 'narrowing' numbers in the NBC/WSJ poll

These narrowing numbers claim O leads likability and compassion/empathy number by HUGE margins, and best numbers on economy yet:

      O - 57%
      R - 25$

Compassionate enough to understand avg. people?
      O - 53%
      R - 29$

      Likely Female
      O - 51%
      R - 43%

      Hipanic LV
      O - 70%
      R - 25$

Hispanic Interest (near 10% increase from Sept)
      Sept - 57%
      Oct  - 68%

      Will get better - 45%
      Will get worse - 9%
      Will stay same - 34%

      Dealing with Foreign Policy
      O - 46%
      R - 38$

Miles to go before we sleep, but you have to like a lot of these numbers - including Nate's 538 forecast (linked in below comment).
