Hard to believe you'd hear something like that coming from me, right?
But it's true. Due to the demographic peculiarities of my home, it's neither delusion nor cop out for me to say My Vote Simply Does Not Matter. It will not, indeed cannot, change the outcome of the race. My state's eight proud electoral votes (down from nine--damned federal flood) will go to Mr. Romney. I'll bet you $10,000.
As for the downballot, same song, different lyrics. As the bluest district in our blood red state, indeed the bluest in the whole nation, we will doubtless return our good representative to Congress, where he will continue to fight for us.
So, no need to vote for congressoid, either.
We've got a really important school board election, between an establishment Republican, desirous of higher office, addicted to charter schools and enamored of vouchers, "so long as the program is properly monitored," up against an establishment Democrat, desirous of higher office, addicted to charter schools and enamored of vouchers, "so long as the program is properly monitored."
And a really smart, innovative independent, hardcore defender of public schools. Who probably doesn't have a chance.
So I figure the end result there's going to be the same, whether I vote or not.
It really is strange. The guy who made this video
coming out here and saying, truthfully, I really don't have to vote.
Because I already did.
If you can vote early, do so. You'll be freeing up poll time for those who can't, plus freeing up your whole election day for driving, calling, canvassing, monitoring, delivering food and drink to GOTV volunteers, etc.
And P.S.:
If you're voting early in at City Hall in New Orleans, just park at the Superdome. Your "I Voted Early" sticker counts as validation.
