The only time Romney came to Delaware, he dissed the entire lineup of party supported candidates who were using that day to announce their candidacies, and instead, gave a shout out to Christine O'Donnell who singlehandedly in 2010 had destroyed the Republican Machine Apparatus in this state.
She, in turn, gave this ringing endorsement to a man now indicted for child molestation, who is tonight, spending his first night in jail.
Eric Bodenweiser was the incarnation of the Tea Party in Delaware. He had just come off a brutal primary defeating a long term Republican who many had thought, would hold that seat till death. Eric Bodenweiser was supportive of a movement to have Delaware's sheriffs become an gun carrying enforcer of the law. Delaware law required sheriffs to only serve papers. Sussex County the lowest county of Delaware, in 2010 elected a Tea Partier for sheriff who did not know this aspect of the law. He ran for, then tried to execute, the sheriff's office in the manner of Barney Fife from the show Andy Griffith.....
When a fist fight broke out at a county meeting, between this wanna-be sheriff and the county head of the Republican Party, Eric Bodenweiser who supposedly encouraged this fight between both parties, later endorsed such actions on the talk radio station, saying that was how Republicans in Sussex County settled their differences.
Today he was indicted with 113 counts of child molestation......
Having beaten the incumbent in last month's primary, his withdrawal two days ago left only the Democrat on the ballot. As rumors percolated before the arrest, the Republican Party began to send signals to all that it would struggle to try and run a write-in campaign by running the mayor of that the county's seat, Georgetown.
(Write in campaigns are very difficult in Delaware, due to the mechanics of the voting machine and the technical prowess required to actually write in a candidate while alone in the booth....)
In his only campaign appearance, where Christine O'Donnell publicly endorsed him he said his main goal was to put religion back into public schools....
