This is the craziest story I've read in a long time.

The headline:

FBI arrests NYPD officer for attempting to "Kidnap women and cook them".

Yes, you read that correctly.

The story is on a publication called The Gothamist.

You can read it online here

More below the Fleur-de-kos

While most stories like this are just nonsense, blather to increase pageviews or whatever.... this one has a scribed court document attached to it.

It appears to be a "sealed complaint", approved by Hadassa Waxman (Assistant US Attorney), and held before the Honorable Henry B. Pitman, United States Magistrate Judge, Southern District of New York.

The arrested NYPD officer? 28-year-old Gilberto Valle, a six-year veteran of the NYPD.

[UPDATE] ABC has obtained the criminal complaint against Valle, which alleges that he and a co-conspirator, named only as 'CC-1," corresponded over email and instant messages to create a file of over 100 potential victims, all women. The FBI alleges that Valle used the National Crime Information Center database to compile the list, and that Valle had no authority to use the database. The FBI spoke to 10 of the women, who confirmed that they knew Valle in some capacity.

Here is an excerpt from Valle's online communication with CC-1 (at one point he asks, "How big is your oven?")

"I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus&cook her over a low heat, keep her alive as long as possible." "I love that she is asleep right now not having the slightest clue of what we have planned. Her days are numbered. I'm glad you're on board. She does look tasty doesn't she?"
Ok, so now you know why the title of the diary is what it is.

This guy was a NYPD officer for six years, and no one noticed that he was totally fucking insane?

What the hell has happened to this country, when police officers are acting out Idi Amin fantasies?

That's all. I read it, and couldn't stop myself from sharing with all of you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
