Nevada is pretty good at picking winners, including politics, in fact, Nevada has voted for the winner of the presidency in 24 of the last 25 elections.
Yes, in the past 100 years, since 1912, the nation has followed Nevada's lead. 24 out of 25 times is an amazing 96%. The only time Nevada failed to correctly pick the president was in 1976, which went to the Democrats.
I bring this up because as Kos pointed out today, Nevada has been solid for Obama.
"You're gonna like this guy, Obama. He's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us."
Perhaps Nevada has been so accurate because it's made up of so many transplants that it reflects a good cross section of the country.
So Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, etc. are all nice, but if you're looking for a leading indicator, then focus on Nevada.
