I've been following a few diaries, read a few comments, and watched 2 talk shows tonight. One diary in particular- Is Rape God's Will?- received several passionate and intelligent comments. One article or essay (it was on the right hand side) was incredibly written and enlightening.
The sub-title of my book: "Is America Stupid?" happens to be "Legitimate Rape, an Illegitimate President, and the Politics of Nonsense." So, you can see that this issue has my attention.
Here's what i don't understand- the diary i mentioned above quotes John 15:12- "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" The writer substituted "will" for commandment. So, not being a Bible expert- I wonder why that's not good enough for Christians. Instead, they (like Mourdock) have to take it all the way to where everything is God's will- even pregnancy through rape.
I want to throw something out. Someone asked today on one of the shows i was watching, "What's the deal with Republicans and rape? Why are they always going there?" I'm guessing that their fantasy of rape must be strong. I think that it's stronger than the logic they use to try to fool themselves and others.
I wrote in my book (it's obvious that the sub-title was a gift from Todd Akin) that the scary part is that there are many other Republicans in Congress who think this way. Why are millions of women going to vote Republican?
