"Ladies and gentlemen, this president is DISGUSTING!" State Rep speaking at Romney rally declares
From TPM, happened a couple hours ago in Defiance.
A state representative introducing Mitt Romney at a campaign rally in Defiance, Ohio on Thursday evening called President Obama "disgusting," according to tweets by several CBS reporters on the scene.
What's disgusting is that Romney would allow himself to be introduced by such a person. There's no suggestion he repudiated the state rep's remarks, although I'm sure if asked he'll say he "wouldn't have used those words."
Here's another link with a picture of the wingnut rep, Lynn Wachtmann. He is a real piece of work. "Pro-Life," he has introduced anti-choice legislation measures so extreme that Ohio Right-To-Life opposes them. This is who Mitt Romney selected for the honor of introducing him. Of all the Ohioans he could select, he picks this one. But the media assure us he's "tacking to the center."
A opponent of abortion, Wachtmann has introduced legislation to ban abortions when a heartbeat is detected in the fetus, which is typically in the first trimester of a pregnancy. "One of my goals as a legislator is to push the pro-life agenda as far as we can," Wachtmann said. "The elections of Nov. 2 last year certainly changed the dynamics of public policy."[10] With the bill introduced by Wachtmann being one of the most conservative abortion measures in the nation, even Ohio Right to Life has opposed it, stating it could possibly bring unwanted retributions against other abortion measures in the court of law...
In addition to sponsoring the "fetal heartbeat" bill, he sponsored legislation governing water usage out of Lake Erie
while simultaneously acting as President of a water-bottling company that gets its water from--you guessed it--Lake Erie.
From the Cleveland Plain Dealer Editorial Board:
When is a conflict of interest not a conflict of interest? Apparently, when it involves the water-bottling interests of the chief sponsor of water-withdrawal legislation in the Ohio House.
State Rep. Lynn Wachtmann, a Republican from northwest Ohio, is president of a water bottling business that buys its liquid assets from the city of Napoleon, which in turn draws its H2O from the Lake Erie watershed, according to Larry Mitchell Sr., president of the League of Ohio Sportsmen.
The rules apparently don't apply to this guy. Sort of like the guy who won't let Americans see his tax returns.
I guess it's for Americans to decide what they consider "disgusting."
